I currently have a Kimbrough Servo saver in my T-Maxx servo linkage, but it seems to be a bit too soft. The steering lags more than I'd like. Can anybody recommend a servo saver that is a little stiffer than the Kimbrough?

p.s. Futaba servo
 
Are you using a 6V Pack? I see the same thing in all my servo savers but I just got a stronger/faster servo.
 
I'm runnin digital Jon, it's pretty fast. I got a new Kimbrough saver today... one for more heavy duty applications. I think this'll work better.

Olds, that's a pretty nice setep. I'll keep it i mind for future reference.

I used the kimbourgh on my savage, the heavy duty one, and it worked perfect, you will be happy with it. Others bought the lighter duty one for the savage and were disappointed.
 
yes hudler, you are absolutely correct. I just got in from a short break-in session and I'm extremely pleased with the heavy duty one. much much better :D
 
I must have gotten the lighter duty one when I tried it... it sucked. With the wheels on pavement, the servo would go full swing in either direction and the tires didn't budge.
 
yep, that pretty much what was goin on. It really wasn't all that bad untill I started turnin at low speed... man, talk about understeer. I had it cranked and it took like 12 ft. to turn around. But the new one is much much better... really brings out the speed and power of this digi servo. Did you have the white one or the medium black one? when I bought the first one I didn't realize there were different types. The white one is probably ok for on-roads but not for MTs. I got the "large servo". It's black and much more firm. Takes quite a bit more to get it turnin.

Just to let you know, I'm parting out my maxx and my pro-line steering kit is one of the things. I'm including new in package an extra set of the plastic pieces that comes on it.

Check out the F/S forum, I just posted it early this morning.
 
thanks Olds. I'm pretty happy with this new Kimbrough Large Saver. There a few things there I was thinking of grabbin up but I needa start watchin my loot. I just bought a bunch of electronics (venom speed meter for Maxx, Novak XXL FM receiver and LRP A.I. ESC for mini-t). Plus a few Nascar Decal kits and bodies to keep me busy over the snow season. They're already talkin sleet for today.... friggin Cleveland :(
 
Just letting you know. I rarely remember things and I remembered you liked the kit when I posted it in this thread.

If you don't go proline, you should invest in bearings for the steering posts. It will give you quicker and stronger response as well. It will also be less likely to get sloppy on you. I think they bearings are only a few $.
 
Thanks for keeping me in mind. I'm runnin the New Era allum. steering setup. pretty smooth operation... woulda been nice if it came with instructions. I still got these little white plastic shims/washers/whatever that don't seem to go anywhere. they're the same size as the bearings so I just figured they we're backups or something.
