How cold is too cold? Right now the temp outside here is around 18-20 degrees F. Is that too cold? I really want to drive right now, because tonight it is supposed to snow a lot, and yesterday I spent about an hour smoothing out the snow on my cul-de-sac. It was perfect for my savage yesterday (25 degrees F), but I forgot to charge the rotostart battery:angry:

If its not wet out, put an old baby sock over the cooling head, and cut out the top so you have access to the glow plug. Get it up to temps, but do not do so by leaning it out.

sorry, forgot to mention that I found one of my old tube socks from the 4th grade and put the elastic part over the cooling head (it's the k4.6 engine). All the baby socks in my house are special ones my mom is holding on to:D Is there something special about baby socks (thickness?).

I wrap the head with a strip of bicycle inner-tube with zipties holding it on. In the snow, a sock retains water/ice/snow and then holds it against your head, which defeats the purpose of it. Using rubber instead sheds the water but still blocks airflow.

I don't typicaly run in the winter when it's less than 20F. Mostly because it's too cold for me to stand there considering the light gloves you have to wear to run the controller, lack of coveralls/bibs and winter boots...

I just use matting used in quilts and put zip ties on the top and bottom. You can buy it at Wal-Mart. Its the thick white cotton material. It lets some air go to the cooling head and keeps the snow from getting to it.
