Great Idea.
I wanted to bump this thread back up because thankfully, i'm not the only new to nitro, revo bashing air monger on this forum.
I initially blew off the importance of temp monitoring and am now a believer. you need something to really keep your nitro burning mill at it's peak. I went with on board simply because I only have one car and it's one less think i need to carry in my kit bag. As far as having to take body off, clever mounting on side of servo makes it a quick and easy peak to check. I have watch others with hand held temp guns fumble with temp gun in one hand, transmitter in the other trying to get a read and the time it took to do so was very inconsistent meaning the readings were going to be inconsistent. Plus a temp gun, unless your real fast, won't give you peak temps. I wish I would have know about the temp failsafe when i was looking. Veteran tuners will tell you not to waist the money, their ears are all they need to know something is going wrong. The rest of us should probably have a back up. So if are in the market for a temp indicator, and a failsafe, I say why not kill two birds with one stone. My next car will definately have it.
Ok, never say never...since this post was made i learned some new stuff and will have to retract this statment. yes, i still like on board real time temp monitoring but i've been checking out the spektrum radio and telemetry capabilities that has me leaning more toward on board sensors, hand held monitoring.
