so i replaced my slipper for the third time, i kept melting the the other ones. I put the new one on and tightened the nut down all the way and have been running it like that. And now the breaking sucks and when i start it, it wants to take off. if i back the nut off thats when i burn the slipper up. I'm running a hardened cb with aluminium clutch shoes. any ideas on why this is happening? thanks.

hi,
is your engine allied properly? done the paper trick, also make sure there is play in your slipper, not alot just a little bit, also when running, occasionally bring the trcuk back and check see if the cb is getting hot, hot as in you can't touch it, if so check your clutch shoes, they are slipping, this will cause the heat to transfer to your slipper which will melt it, when you check them, might be good to go round the inside of your clutch bell, with light sand paper so the shoes will grip easier, also if you are running a plastic slipper with a hardened clutch bell, then you are loosing life in the slipper, i had the same problem, now i have bought a steel slipper and a hardened clutch bell and has been fine ever since :) hope it helps

Well, the slipper has nothing really to do with your truck wanting to take off when you start it or your braking issues.

Both of those issues can be related to improper linkage adjustments. The truck wanting to take off on you could also be just that your tune is wrong and probably your idle adjustment screw is in too far.
