hi, my savage x slipper clutch pad was totally burnt. i replaced it with a new pad. there is not enough power provided to the transmission. the pad is slipping. i even tried winding the spring a bit more with the nut on the spur gear. it showed no improvement. what could be the problem. it still slips. please suggest.
ALSO CAN ANY EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SLIPPER PLATE(72130) AND A SLIPPER CLUTCH PLATE A(86801) AND A SLIPPER CLUTCH PAD.

THANKS

yes i did remove the cover before sticking it.i even cleaned the surface of the spur gear.

Just an idea...screw the nut all the way and then unscrew it about a 1/4 of a turn, mine is set like that and it works fine.

thanks . i will try it. can there be a problem with the spur where the slipper pad is stuck.

There could be, but not likely. My experience has been a simple case of inertia causing the nut to loosen. The fix detailed costs very little to implement. The hardest part of it is tracking down a washer.
