Hey fellas! I took the slide carb off my SH.28 today, to try and find out whats up with it.. When I took it apart I noticed there are no springs inside of it? The "rubber" sleeve that goes over the slide sort of acts as a spring and keeps the bowl open slightly when there's no linkage or pressure on it, but my rotary carb had a spring in behind the bowl/low speed needle assembly.. Do slide carbs not have any internal springs or is mine missing one? Thanks!

PS: Reason I ask is that's all I could think of that may be causing any probs.. Everything else "looks" fine.. I'm going to run some air through it and put it back together..

they do not have internal springs. the linkage is supposed to hold it closed at idle what you may be seeing on the roto carb is a throttle return spring. this would be a good addition to the slide carb for safety.

be sure you seal up the neck when you reinstall it. rtv works great.

Some slide carbs do have springs though like your seeing on your rotary, but not all of them. They are usually a very soft spring that wouldn't really help you much if your servo died or anything. I'm not sure what their purpose is due to how weak they are.

Yea, the rotary had a thin, maybe 2 or 3 coil, spring that doesn't have much strength.. I found a schematic for my motor/carb (slide carb) but it doesn't have any springs.. I didnt see much junk in there but the left over fuel had some junk in it.. If anything, I think my HSN housing might be leaking air? Its a cheap ass housing with no seals and a plastic fuel nipple inlet.. I had used RTV on it when I sealed the carb but when the truck didnt run right I took it apart and noticed rtv remnants in there.. But when I clenaed it up and put it back together it still did the same thing, so I'm not sure todays cleaning is gonna do much either, but I'll keep my fingers crossed..

Its there to break the uneven decell or fuel cut-off. As you ease off the throttle, or completely let go, it is used as a dampener to smoothly cut the throttle instead of getting stuck in its bore.
