I have a couple tired engines laying around that I want to get pinched. I used OSRocket a 3-4 years ago and RayARacing was also a place to get it done. Now all I can find is OSRocket's website... RayARacings is no longer available.

I'd use OSRocket again, but the pinch I got from him before was ridiculously tight. If I do end up going with him again, I'll have to ask that he try to not go so tight this time.
 
Yeah, that's the one that did my RG too tight. I sent it back to be fixed but I never got around to breaking it in again so I still don't know how it'll be. That was like a year ago. Very nice to deal with though :)

Have you ever considered having a good piston/sleeve cryo-treated? I'm gonna have my 4 stroke done and was thinking how much longer a 2-stroke sleeve would last if treated. I'm having my entire FS26SC done for $20 (unassembled of course).
 
I sent an email to rayaracing and apparently he was on vaca when his monthly bill for his site hosting came due... it's back online again. I'll probably try his since so many have had such good luck with his work.
 
I was wondering, why would you want to pinch/resize your sleeve? Does it improve performance, less compression, etc?
 
scoby, getting the sleeve pinched is almost like getting a new engine. it basically restores the sleeve to just about its original specs.
 
Yeah, the engines I have are worn but still seem good otherwise. Con-rods are still tight, piston/sleeve isn't scored from heat, bearings don't leak...

Getting a sleeve resized gives you compression your new engine gives, but with a shorter break-in time and it's around $22 to get it done vs the $50-$100+ that a new piston/sleeve costs.
 
Olds, can you post back with the results when they are done? I have been kicking around the idea of getting some done, but never really knew if it was worth it.
 
The one I had done by OS rocket is still kicking... It's now my winter engine since I don't really care about it... I run it in my aftershock now that it's cold and save my LRP28 for warmer weather.

I put about 12 gallons through that engine prior to having it pinched. The OS pinched it and it was way too tight and I had to chuck the crankshaft in a drill for about 30 minutes while constantly squirting WD in the carb neck. I replaced the main bearings as well as they were shot at the time.

I've run another 4 not-so-nice gallons through that engine and it still has good compression. You can still feel the pinch.

It's just a OS21RG, so nothing exceptional. But it was definitely worth the $20 it cost to get it done.
 
They just compress the part of the sleeve that pinches the piston at the exhaust port on up. The piston I think is what wears down, since it's aluminum and the sleeve is chrome plated. So they squeeze the sleeve and make it's inner diameter a bit smaller so the piston then doesn't fit again. It only takes a hair of pinch to put it back. I believe it can be done 2 or 3 times if the piston/engine was maintained properly.
