i have a o.s. 15 engine. does this mean i have a 2.5. any other good motor for this size. what do i have to do to run the picco .26 reddot

The OS 15 is a side exhaust engine. What carb do you have? Rotary or slide?

If you have an old 15 pro maxx (the original with engine that has side exhaust/rotary carb) and your also using a rotary carb on your OS, you will need new throttle linkage, the throttle pivot and post, a stock 2.5 maxx exhaust header and I'd suggest a new exhaust pipe.

You may also need a new flywheel nut for the TRX2.5: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDDR3&P=M

I'm guessing this is the engine your asking about?

Oh, and yes, a .15ci = 2.5cc. Keep mind mind that just because the TRX2.5 is the same "size" as the OS15, they are completely different engines that required completely different parts to use one or the other. The red dot picco is intended to be a drop in for the TRX2.5.

Thanks for the great info. The truck has been modified with all alum parts from front to back ex trany (eBay rules). So I can’t tell if it’s what you say. The motor is the same as that one except its blue and gold. The carb looks like that one as well. So it there any difference with the 3.3. Can you make a 2.5 a 3.3. Do you even want to as there may be no advantage? Maybe 3.3 give you an ability to run bigger motors. Just brainstorming sorry. Any thoughts welcome

You can upload a photo as an attachment. Instead of typing in this box, click the "Go Advanced" button below. Then put some text in the box so the post isn't empty and below, you will notice a "Manage Attachments" button. Click that and do as it says.

As for the carb, when you give it throttle does the arm on the carb rotate forward/back or does it slide in and out only? If it rotates, then it's not a slide carb, but rather a rotary.

What I meant by the engine link is that is the picco red dot.

Is the engine in your truck currently like this one?

ok here is the deal, this site is great. i just bought this truck because i got a killer deal. i have run electic but always wanted a nitro. so here it goes. I have a mx-3 fhss remote already. I think i need a glow plug, ingitor, fuel and it should start.and this roto start is that what i have. do you have any prefrence to kind of glow plug, starter i like the trinity moster brew 20%. can you think of any othe things i will need

what kind os starter is this i think its a roto starter

Not sure what starter specifically will work for you, but it looks like a typical roto start that requires a hand held. Do you not have the starter itself?

You might find that the engine isn't enough for that truck. IMHO, a 15 is too small for a t-maxx in stock form and definitely too small for one with lots of aluminum.

I'm not real sure why, but the throttle servo has been moved and is the way for you to use a more conventional pipe. It should go in the front of the transmission, but will require you to use the 2.5/3.3 throttle pivot and post along with new linkage wires.

That said, I've always had good luck with OS #3 and #8 plugs in small blocks.

I think this starter will work with that:

FYI, your engine appears to be a side exhaust/slide carb engine. Not sure what kind of crankshaft it has though (short/standard/pilot).

I just got a rotostarter tonight; I will upgrade the motor after I figure out how to work this one. I will buy some of those plugs you mentioned. Can I run with this throttle setup? I thought it looked different as well. I don’t have anything to start this truck. This is how it came with a few extra tires, that’s it. what starter are you talking about.; I guess I still need a glow starter, is that the starter you mentioned.

Okay, I ordered fuel, glow plug #8 hump pack for the truck, on one for the roto start, I converted my mx-3 to recharge set, glow starter, new fuel filter with bulb, failsafe with temp gauge, and I gleaned all the old fuel out with alcohol. I think I am ready when this all gets here..
