At the end of my fourth tank I start to notice I'm losing some punch off the line and getting really sluggish coming out of the corners. Thinking I melted the spur I shut it off, removed the lid and was surprised that the spur still looked new. I let everything cool for about 15 minutes and on my next attempt to run it I hear a zzzing noise as a applied some throttle and found I chewed away six teeth on the spur...I'm assuming these were the teeth that were resting on the CB during cool down, melted and I just slung them off when I tried to run it again. Is that what it looks like from the pics?

Either that, or the let go when you hit the throttle or landed a big jump. Given enough time you probably would have ripped the rest off.

check your clutch bell that it is spinning freely and smooth if not its your clutch shoes or retaining springs.

The CB spins free and smooth and the shoes look normal...no signs of melting but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean it didn't get toasty enough to soften up those few spur teeth while it was resting.

I no longer like you :hammer:

get a medal one the plastic ones wear out very easy. mine was so bad it wouldnt move. i recommend a 52 tooth spur gear.

I take it you're still having issues? Although my last outing was a good one (till I spun the teeth of the spur), I don't feel that I'm out of the woods yet...we'll see tomorrow if the other day was just a fluke.

1 learn to spell metal, its a type of material, not a prize like a "medal"
2 just because you bought one as a crutch to solve a problem with your setup, doesn't mean its right for everyone.

as to the issue at hand, basically, your gear mesh looks too lose. by your 4th tank the engine is loosening up, and making more power. i would guess this newfound power was enough to overcome the lacking mesh of the gears. the tell tale sign is that only half of the height of the teeth are missing, and when looking at the mesh from your bell to the remaining spur, its clearly not engaged enough. go buy a new plastic spur and use the plastic bag it comes in as a spacer to set your mesh. put the bag between the spur and bell, push them together and tighten down the mounts, then spin the bag out from between them.

Only time I have problems with my plastic spurs are when I land extremly hard on the rear bumper and it shifts the motor. I agree that the metal spur great is just a quick fix and not a permanent solution. Just learn to set the gear mesh correctly and U will not have anymore problems. Also use blue locktight on your motor mount screws.
