I bought the Kanai Edition motor this evening. The guy i usually buy from was not in and the sales person coud not tell me the HP or RPMs, and they are not on the box. I have not been able to find them on the net either. Does anyone know these specs or where i can find them? I know it is a good motor, but i would just like to know.

Thanks

I don't know the exact max RPM, but mine has to be topping out at 40K. This mill is the highest winding mill I've ever owned.

Per Team Trinity,
HP=2.5
RPM=42,000
I'll agree with Error that this is the highest winding engine I've ever owened also. This engine is absolutely awesome. I run mine at about 250 degs. or so and she runs like a champ. The instant fuel hits the carb, she fires right up. I must also add that this engine is very easy to tune and will hold that tune all day long and then some. Good luck with yours!

Thanks if the info guys. I am glad to hear that it is easy to tune since i am new at this and still learning.

Just some quick heads up if you're new to nitro engines:

The Sirio Kanai engine is really tight out of the box. I had a hell of a time getting mine fired up the first time. Use a heat gun or a hair dryer and prelube it a bit. Did I mention it's pretty tight.

Keep the temps low during breakin, try to keep it below 240. Mine built up heat pretty quick, so keep an eye on it. Once it was brok in, it's a pretty cool running mill.

Don't over gear that mill. I run a 13t bell on my K3 and it's pretty fast. I probably could go up to a 14t, but I think it wouldn't really gain me much except on an oval track. This mill is designed to run high rpm's, not have low end grunt.

I've seen it at 2.1 hp and 42k rpm in a big ad in one of my r/c magazines. kinda funny....i know that mill will smoke the crap out of most any motor on the market (not including the italians) that claims to have 2.4 + hp.

I learned all about an engine being tight with my hyper 21 8 port. It was so tight that is sounded like you were taking the lugs of a car. With the 21 i had to take the engine out and turn it over with channel locks, with the plug out and oil in it, i did that till my hands were sore. Once i did get it started, i said forget about the heat cycling, i just let it run. but that was the hyper

With the Kanai motor, yes it was tight and it did get stuck at the top of its stroke once but it was easy to start and get the heat cycling going. I was surprised that during break in it was running really cool, i had to lean it out just to get the temps up to 180-200. At first it was like at 115, so I thougt my temp. gun was bad, but after 5-8 mins. of runing I could still hold my hand on the exhaust manifold.
Yes I am new at this, and with every engine that I have broke in I have had touble keeping the temps low. but i know more now, and still learning, and the Kanai mill is the only top end motor i have used so far, so at $320 i will take care of it.
Tommorrow I hope to spend most of the day at the track to finish the last bit of break in an get it leaned out and running strong (and running cool, not at 330 like the first nitro I owned) but i have learned alot since then.
Well 2:25am here so i am out.
