Can any one tell me if it is normal to have a dark colour on top of the piston head. I'm running 20% trinity fuel.

no i dont think so... mine is a golden brown sort of color using blue thunder 20% you might want to change fuels... I've herd some bad things about from trinity monster fuel

Thanks for the info ill try changing my fuel. Would you think it might be damaged now or will it be ok.

You running it overly rich? I think that's what it does when it's run rich, but I can't remember.

I know the piston top in my Omega 21 comp is still shiny and clean after about 1.5 gallons. The piston in my Orion Wasp 18 is dull looking, but still silver. Pretty much the same as it did when it was new. It has about 1.8 gallons through it.

I remember my old Dynamite Mach .15 in my rtr xxx-nt was all black looking, but it was my first step into nitro about 2 1/2 years ago. I probably ran it too lean and too rich. I just didn't know any better.

if it still runs and you like the performance, i think you will be ok, any amount of running it lean will make it wear out faster, but you may still have life left in the engine. I had an old hyper 21 8 port that i was about to replace so i ran it lean to get the screaming performance out of it, and it got all brown inside, but i ran mine so hot that is melted the composite pipe, so i think lean will get it brown.

Is it still running ok? Does it still have compression?

Just because it's a weird color doesn't mean it's dead. Like I said, I can't remember if it's dark because it's too lean or rich. If it's too lean, it runs hot, to rich and it blubbers up on you and makes the glow plug all dark. I'm pretty sure that if it's dark though, it may be too rich, now that I think about it.

What temps do you normally run?

BTW, I run trinity MHP 20% in all my engines.

It still has good compression. I'm running about 280. When i hit top speeds sometimes it makes a popping sound

the popping is detonation. the darkness on the top of your piston is from running to lean in your case. richen it up so it runs around 250 WOT.

Thanks for the help to everyone. Just bought a RB Concept World S7 II now are they any good.
