Anyone try to install a side exhaust engine on the revo?

The reason I ask is because I have a barely used (10 tanks through it) OS 18 CV-R(x) sitting in a drawer that I don't have anything to use it on. I'm getting a revo (used) in the mail this week hopefully and just thought I'd throw the question out there.

If it's not possible, I may sell it. But as we all know, "used" engines, no matter how not "used" they are don't sell for much... which is why I kept it in the first place.

I don't see why you couldn't use it. do you have a header for it, because the revo exhausts out the back, so you would need a u shaped header or something like that.

Yeah, I have a header, but I don't think it will work with the revo at all. It's the t-maxx traxxas header. It loops down and forward, or up and backwards...

I just haven't looked at a revo up close to see where the exhaust "could" go.

I'm looking at my Revo right now.
I may be wrong but with the way the mill sits at an angle I'm not sure if there is enough room on the side for a header. It will depend on how high the exhaust port is and the shape of the header so it can clear the shock.

If the header fits, I'm sure you can ghetto something up to work.

Edit:
Sorry, Its been so long, What side is the exhaust port on?
LMAO @ Me!

lmk if you want to sell it.. i got a rc10gt that i think the o.s. .15 took a poop in..

Your right Ed, I believe it will be over the shock.

I am the Ghetto king though... at least as ghetto as a white guy from Iowa can be...

I'll let you know beason. I should be getting the revo Friday or Saturday.

The first thing I'm going to do is pull the engine, tear down the carb (it has issues I think, buying it off of AC48), replace the EZ with a pull and give it a whirl. In the meantime, I'll set the OS in there to see how it sits.

I was just trying to see if anyone has gone through the effort to try it is all. It isn't the most cost effective venture considering the OS 18 for the Revo is a direct drop in for around $200. But, since I have $100 engine sitting in the drawer already, I might as well see what it will take to persuade the revo to accept it.

It is possible. I will post a pic later.

Ok images too big to post it here. But here is the link. And NO it is not my Revo.

Umm... that's a rear port engine with side exhaust. Not a side port engine with side exhaust. Two different animals.

Thanks for the pic though. It shows me the room that I'll be fighting with.

Hopefully I can get to the 2.5 to run since buying the revo tapped me out.

The mill sits at an angle twords the center of the chassis. The shocks are right at the height that a header would be at. I just can't see the drop-in of a side port mill.

Hmm

what if you used and old style rc10gt header? Would that clear it i wonder.....just a thought.

Um... yeah... I don't think it will work. Even by raising the engine, it's at to much of an angle so the header will hit the shock before the engine is even close to being into position.

Off to the Sale forum I go!
