i set the hsn at 3 turns out, and warmed it up. i set the lsn 3/4 turn in from factory and it runs like a bat out of hell on the bottom/take off, but the top speed gurlgles and sputters and isnt very quick after it uses the bottom end.

I'm just getting good bottom end results. if i can get the top speed like the take off speed this thing will run unridiculously.

do i need to turn the hsn in by 1/8 increments?

and by the way the linkage SUCKS
There is a linkage mod you can do. I have done it and it works nice.

I'm waiting on the parts from towers. no info on the problem I'm having?

You may be too lean on the HSN. But from what you are saying I am guessing the LSN is the culprit. Lots of power in the beginning but none on the top I would say so.

Fatten up the HSN 1/4 turn to see if it starts to get better. Always make sure the engine is at operating temp before tuning.

you didnt say what engine you have I'm gonna guess you have a stock .25?
the manuals say after breakin your high & low speed needles should be from 2-1/2 to 3 turns out so if your running at 3 turns out now on your high speed needle you have a half turn to play with lean it 1/8th turn at a time keeping a eye on your temps

let us know what happens

some new nitro has a to lean protection.. the gas evaporates if the engine is running to hot.. this will make it sputter at top end but run like hell at takeoff

k46 engine.so i should set both needles at 3 turns out and then work with the top end/hsn, and then the bottom end/lsn?

which way do i turn the screw for a later shift in the trans, and how far?

The Needles on the carb? I would make sure the engine is running properly first. The 2 speed assembly in the tranny is where you would want to make this adjustment.

whoa you have the .28 do not go by my post my post was for the .25 ...I'm sure someone with the .28 will give you the stock settings shortly

zandor where you at? how do you have your needles set for optimal performance?

poop I don't no LOL It runs good LOL :jk: I have only ran 8 tanks through mine.
But from factory I am 3/4 of a turn in on the HSN and right around 1/2 turn in on the LSN... with a few idle tweeks.... And its a brut. Pull wot and she flips over.
Slow on the trigger to wot she takes off like a bat out of hell to the top.. I just have not had the time to really take her out.. Ill be running tomarrow all day..

you remeber what the factory settings are? it does give the amounts that the screws should be turned from close. i thought the hsn said factory was 4 1/2 from close

If you look at the HSN there is a groove in the brass needle houseing.. if you screw the HSN needle out (to the left) you will see a grove in the brass sleave.\
you want the bottom of the black plastic screw flush with that..
and the LSN flush with the out side of the slide..same as the mid needle...

Looks like I am closest you. I am breaking in my S-25 and from what I can see our directions may be similar. 4.5 from close on th HSN during break in and 2.5 to 3 from closed. The LSN is 3 during break in from factory and 2.5 - 3 after. It says 2mm for the gap in the carb..I will play that one by eye. Note these all have factors that can change depending on weather conditions, seal level, plug type and fuel. Hope you get it working. Let us know
