Has anyone here had arthoscopic (sp) surgery on their shoulder? I'm going in on Thursday for a problem that has been nagging me for months. What was the recovery like?

Sorry to here that, but if it is any thing like my Knee was, then it shouldn't be to bad, with my knee it was just 3 small insizions "I know that's not spelled right" LOL!!! but it only took about 6 weeks for it to feel pretty well back to normal, so I would think probably less for a shoulder, good luck with the surgery....

Thanks, I get the same three small puncture wounds then will be in a sling for a week or two. Just got a call back from the Doc, now they want an EKG before surgery. I'm only 36 and in pretty good shape, what the hell do I need an EKG for?

When I had surgery for my hernia I was you age and had to get a full blood work up, EKG, and a couple other things, and that was just a couple of years ago, so I think it is standard practice there days before any surgery is done....

Your age has nothing to do with the surgery. High school athletes have died from heart attacks. Anesthesia and surgery is always risky and they need the full work up to protect YOU as well as themselves.

Ok, I get that done Monday. The nurse at the Doc's office sounded surprised that I needed it. When I had the blood drawn and peed in the cup I asked if there was anything else I had to do and was told no.

I had a shoulder surgery a few years back. Have three or four x's for scars.Rotator cuff, torn bicept and some bone spurs. He ground off a mm or two of bone.I had my elbow done at the same time also.I'm no wimp but that was a tough recovery.Longer than I was expected like two months. Its was worth it in the end though. You gotta love that feeling when the tell you to start counting 1,2,blurb, nighty night :)

This is the first time I have ever had to have any kind of proceedure done so I am a little nervous. The doc says about 6 to 8 weeks for recovery, then I'll get him to deal with my right shoulder.

I wish you all the best.I too may have to have a op on my shoulder.
Problems are.
1) pinched shoulder
2) tendon sheared
3) calcification
4) bits of bone floating around.
5)nerves in the shoulder blade not working(having physio)
6) once dislocated
7)Arthritis
All due to my life style falling off motor bikes martial arts and weight lifting:)

I had a knee scope done and was told it was simple compared to a shoulder scope. It's been just under a year with 2 months to go and I'm 22. Expect a year long or better full recovery time, as its not as easy to immobilize a shoulder as you can a knee.

I ahve to get surgery also on my shoulder. I have a torn rotator cuff and the end of my colar bone has too much of a dramatic curve and it is causing a impendege (pinch) of my rotator cuff. I have the consulation thursday of this week coming up.

Had the same bit with the colar bone, got some of that shaved off. I have to wait till Tues. to get the whole story of what was done. All said, not too bad. The whole day after surgery I sill had the nerve block, Fri. was handled with one pill every 4 hrs and I haven't needed any today. Really wish I could move my arm more but can't push it till I hear what the doc says.

least a sholder u can stick it in a sling and not have all the weight that a knee has on it

wish u the best recovery.... its times like this were i bet ur hoping that u have a ezy start haha
