I normally like suspension lifts but I have searched high and low for a larger than 3' suspension lift for my truck. I might just get the suspension lift for now and later on get a body lift.

The only reason I say this is that body lifts are an easy and very quick way to cause the truck to start rattling. Coming from an ol country boy I know a lot of guys that have done body lifts and it can be as short as a few months or as long as a year or so, but no matter what anytime you take a body off the frame to put it on blocks it's going to start to rattle.

I'd take the stiffer ride then the body going all over the place.

Yep, I agree with the WoodiE. Being born and raised in Kentucky that is all I was around was lifted trucks and even an elcamino and a cadillac. Yes pure breed redneck. Now living in Indiana you see alot of them here to. Maybe you can't find something more than 3" is because it is a newer model. I have some 4x4 places on my favorites and have some mags. I will look for ya to to help and let you know if I find something.

I'd only do the body lift if you just need that extra bit of room to clear some larger tires. Other than that, stick with the real deal.

My question is, do you want it for looks or actual use?

If you want to do it, you're going to need bigger "meats" to fill the wheel well and with bigger meats comes bigger binders to stop ya. Another thing is make sure that your state allows it and if they do, to what extent.

If you're really intent on lifting the truck, I'll start digging through my pile of suppliers and suspension mags. Bod lifts are a pain in the ass, especially since the bumpers won't match unless you gt new brackets for em.

SUp dude,

Right on...a fellow NIssan owner. First of all the prices are kinda rediculous. Check out www.4x4parts.com.....they are the Kings of everything NIssan 4x4 and their service kicks ass....I've given them plenty of my heard earned dough. Their forum kicks ass too and like here, many people will go out of their way to help you out.

First of all, Older and New Nissans don't tolerate changes in the suspension geometry the way that good OLD american trucks do that have an actuall frames/chasis. I have a 94 Nissan Pathfinder that HAD a 3" AC Suspension with Rancho RS9000X's and 2" AC body lift on 33x12.50 MT and rear ARB Air Locker. It kicked ass offroad and looked AWESOME (was the badest pathfinder in these parts). I took everything off and went back to stock (cept for the ARb Locker) as I was breaking (Idler Arms ect) chit allot more often with the suspension lift due to the stresss. I had a buddy that had the same on his 94 Nissan Hardbody and he says "it looks awesome but it was a mistake". THe newer genration NIssans have even less clearence in the wheel wells and on some models the Chassis is built onto the frame (Xterra). They perform well off-road but ride harder on-road.

As for Body Lifts, I actually can't stand body lifts as they increase your center of gravity and chances of rolling off-road and don't increase your clearence. Some people do body lifts for looks but IMO that's gay. The only reason I had a 2" body lift on my Pathfinder was so I could clear the 33's like most people with NIssans. You c ALLOT of Body lifts on Nissans so you can clear larger tires in the wheels wells.

As for Noise and Body lifts as Woodie pointed out. Yes, you can get more rattling but you'll get more rattling from driving the chit ouf of a truck with Unibody construction then from a Body lift...lol. Over time your Unibody chassis will "flex" and make allot more noise inside the cab as I'm experiencing in my pathfinder. You can add chassis "stiffners" to remedy this to an extent.

Yeah it's always a bad idea to do both a body and a suspension lift. I would love to give my truck a suspension lift but it's just way too expensive. Thought about a body lift but it really offers no advantage. Actually they are kind of bad even.

I would go with a suspension lift..........
Bodylift means nothing but funny looking..
Ge the suspension lift, and bigger beefier tires....
ROAR!!!!!

A 4" suspension lift would be nice and AC might have one Trailmaster makes one for the 95 and ealier truck. On the earlier generatin NIssans, doing a 4" lift requires ALLOT of work though and money as you have to relocate things and sometimes mod your drivelines. The newer Nissans have even less clearence in the wheel wells as I mentioned above and it may be impossible or not worth the expense to do a 4" lift.

Hey ya EP, check this site out. It's all nissan stuff geared towards the offroad guys. I bought a lot of parts for my 96' hardbody from them. These guys are exclusive nissan, they have fast shipping. They are also good with customer support.

They have a pretty huge gallery with readers rides as well. You can most likely see what your lift looks like before you buy it.

They have a killer web board too :)

With my shortbox hardbody I never had a need to go over 31-10.50's so all I did was re-index the torsion bars. I got about 2" of lift, and kept a nic soft ride.

I liked my nissan just high enough for a near vertical approach, but still low enough not to have problems with side hills.

What does your truck look like, and what kind of off roading do you do?

Yes, it does offer the advantage of more room in the wheel wells as I pointed out and it looks higher. For your truck I wouldn't even waste my money on a suspension lift dude. Chit, for the price of stuff for that truck you could almost buy yourself a mean off-raod machine like a Scout.

my friend got a 3 inch body lift and it looks so dumb, you can see under the truck between the frame and the body, and the bumper doesn't even line up anymore

What ever you want. Choose what you want. Get the suspention. I'm just not sure about the lift kit.......Nick
