hey guys, my rear diff in my supermaxx has been being stupid lately. almost everytime i take it out, BOOM it just blows up the little plastic case inside the diff. so i went and got a rear locker for it and i am gonna put it in and see how it works out. do they work good for u guys?

Sounds like you don't have a SuperMaxx differential?? Maybe you sould try one of those. Then you will probably stop having diff problems!!

Are you running a big block? You have plastic diffs in a supermaxx? Have you shimmed them properly? Anyway if you are running a big block, you might want to consider upgrading the stock diffs to something beefier. If you spool it, you really can't run it at all on pavement without tearing up the rest of the drivetrain.

Unfortunatly, you will find that the locker blows the pinion gears and cvd's all to hell. I ran a locked diff in my 18 sport maxx and it twisted the crap out of the sliders and tore all the teeth off the pinion and ring gear in under a gallon.

I'd suggest spending $50 on either an aluminum maximizer cup or kippster cup. If you do, all you need is the modified stock gear. Mine has held up for 5 gallons. 4 on a 21 maxx, 1 on my sport maxx. I gave up on the 21 maxx world, so many parts, so many hours wasted...

sorry for not replyin lately guys, i have been out of town. anywayz, yes i am running big block, no i dont have the supermaxx diffs YET! lol right now i got powerline aluminum diff cases with kippster gears inside. i want to run it on the street still so this may not be the best thing then? i guess i will just go and get me some new gears, or go and get the kippster cups.

heh, I spool my junk up with RTV. I thought the idea was bunk at frst, I added RTV, waited for a day, gave the wheel a turn, both turned the same way for about a second, then gave up the ghost. 4 days later the silicone finally set up, and I was happy. Now after bout a gallon or so, it doesn't hold as well, but is still better than nothing. My point, and what it has to do with blowing stuff out, hell if i know.....

instead of putting a spool in the diff try bearing packing grease. works great for me.
