Well those are my three final choices. I plan to race if I get the .21 but If I get the .26 bashing will do just fine! I want specs power numbers opinions user facts tuning stuff cooling head opinions. Any useless info like that.

Picco.26 I've heard alot about this engine and not much is to be said.

Hyper21 8-Port My choice right now.

o.s. RG This is the wildcard. I searched and searched for threads with this but I came out hopeless. I want to know reliability, power, low end, high end, and overall goodness. I was looking for an O.S. because they are known for lasting. I really want this RG but yet I dont want a lemon.

I've an OS 21 RG-X and it still runs great, but the pull starter one way bearing is slipping so I can't use it til I get another one or get a starter box. The OS is very easy to tune and the carb fits right on the Hyper 21 (which is a better carb), and I've known people to have their OS's last for around 10 gallons.

The 8 Port is a great motor for its price, but the downside is the bitch ass carb which the OS carb will do better with once after procedure break-in using the Hyper stock carb.

The Picco 26 has a huge share of "carb problems" threads at the OFNA site, reliability is still questionable too.

LOL el wants you to ventalant them. haha

i love my 8-port race it has more horse power than the normal 8-port. i thought it had a gutless bottom end until i tuned it better. i think it's a long stoke (top end) engine so you'll have to change gearing a little if you want bottom end. I'm also running the carb from OS RG on my 8-port (i can get you one for $20 + shipping). Tuning is a dream.

if you want to drop this in a MT, i can hook you up with an 8-port race with a pull start (doesn't carry the OFNA name).

the picco is also hard to tune from what I've read.

my $0.02

How the .21RG-X's Bottom End? Because I was thinking of shooting that first. Maybe Ill start with my Paintball gun to set up a target then blast it with a 22.
Seriously, I want Enough bottom end grunt to Pull the front tires off the ground. I dont care much about top end as long as it will beat that pesky TRX2.5. I know that the Hyper 8Port can but The O.S. Is questionable?
I want as much info on the RG as possible. I dont care much about the Hyper because everyone has been putting info down already.

OS .21RG = 1.9hp @ 30K RPM, Prac RPM 3k-35k, $130

Hyper 8port = 2.5(claimed)hp @ 38K RPM, Prac RPM 3.5k-39k, $140

Picco .26 = 2.7(Euro)hp @ 37K RPM, Prac RPM 3.5K-38K, $170
===============================
My experience says go with the OS for a couple of reasons.
1. Its an OS Max Engine
2. The HP numbers are underrated. it is probably more like 2.5
3. The Picco is a nightmare, hard to tune, starting probs, HP not true
4. Its an OS Max Engine
5. Its an OS Max Engine
=================================
The OS will also have the greatest acceleration at the bottom end, its powerband favors low end grunt. The hyper is a nice mill, and everyone seems to like it, but its still by Ofna. Stay away from the Picco, trinity boosts the HP numbers, they are not really that high. Plus, I had a Rossi before, it was impossible to keep tuned, ran hot, hated to idle.
=================================
I would rather lose a mph or two, and get OS reliability any day. You are not planning on racing, are you?

Well I am planning on racing but speed isnt that important to me. As long as it will set me faster than my .21bb. My track has about a 10yard straight which is the biggest, so any engine with low end grunt is a winner in my case. Its one of those tiny tracks where straights are hard to come by.

well - if u are planning on racing, then the .26 is not an option. after that - i would go with the OS .21RZ - thats about as reliable as u can get, with just awe inspiring power.

SHK - this is probably the most powerful, reliable mill on the planet - it aint cheap - but its an OS and u wont be dissapointed.

This engine will top out at over 40000rpm, produce far more than the stated 2.4hp, and last damn near forever.

You can also go with the VZ - but that might be overkill. think if this equation: .12cv = .21rg / .12cv-r = .21rz / .12tr = .21vz

here is more info about it, click below:

The RG has good bottom end but a real flat top end- the top end sucks compared to other 3-4 port engines. But I like torque more than top speed, top speed is easy to dial in with gearing and aftermarket tuned pipes anyways.

I agree with Nitroaddict, the RZ & VZ are very good engines.

O.S. engines are just so damn reliable that it is hard to pass on them. There are more exotic, but none more reliable.

Well the one you showed me needs a bump start. There is no bump start for a savage. That will be a problem.

u can use a bump starter on a savage, just not a starter box. get an airplane starter, and use the optional doughnut attatchment.

The HPI roto start or Hot Bodies jump start can be used on the Savage. I use one on the XTM .18 motor.
