I have an E-MAXX and I love jumping it. I have had it about 5 feet in the air and had a descent landing. I have the stock shock and suspension set up with the largest and second to largest spring adjusters on both front and back shocks. I am looking for a shock upgrade that will handle jumps and dirt/sand hill climbs better then my stock set up.

Try the big bore shocks with trinity black springs. I use that setup for jumping my t-maxx with the large spacers in both the front and rear. IMHO you need really stiff suspension for jumping.

thanks El Pirata. I agree about the stiff suspension for jumping. do the big bore shocks come in an 8 pack or do you have to get them 2 at a time? and do the Trinity black springs come with the big bore or seperate?

I was also thinking about rebuilding my shocks with the three hole plunger instead of the two hole... might put more of the weight of jumping onto the springs instead of the shock tower. What do you think?

ok just checked all the links Nitroaddict put up. So would the losi shocks handle big air jumps? and if you guys dont mind answering what is the big deal with the weight of shock oil you use? right now I have 80 wt oil in my shocks. My thinking is this. thicker or thinner oil can actually be moderated slightly by using more or less holed pistons. I was thinking of using the 80 wt with the three hole piston. The thick oil with the three hole piston should absorb some of the impact but not enough to break the shock towers. Then the rest of the impact is handled by the springs. I dont know if my thinking is flawed or not, what do you think?

Big bores come in 8 packs right from Traxxas. It's pretty much the only stock part left on my t-maxx that I trust, well aside from the bumpers and mounts but I picked up a dozen of them from ebay really cheap last year and have not run out. Also from a true off roader in real life you also might want to think about a lighter weight oil. Some will really disagree with me on this one but I have not had any problems suspension related with 20wt in my shocks and heavy springs even going to far as to have 10 - 15' vertical drops from some of the jumps I have played on.

Correction, only traxxas part, rather than stock part.

That is correct - like many other adjustments u can make - u can kind of choose which to do, same effects .

Well I was looking for the Big Bore Shocks on E-bay when I found the new piggyback resevior shocks. They claim to be made for BIG AIR. Does anyone have any experience with these shocks?
