Went to the lhs today and talked to them abotu shocks for the savage. they said i should get the new era arms and the shocks for the supermaxx. i am just wondering if anybody is useing this setup or something close to it and what they think of it
 
get the integy shocks or keep the stock ones I'm not gonna buy new shocks for 100 bucks doesn't seem worth it if i can fix em for like 2 bucks
 
well i have only broken 3 shocks....i have gotten 4 replaced by hpi and have 4 more to send them because of that pinhole they get if you don't cut it off just perfect. just want to get better shocke or a better system. and all the 5.00 shock bodies add up to a new set of aluminumones after a while
 
you are one of the lucky ones - there was a known flaw with a rather larger run of their shocks for a while. Because of how they were snipped from their moulds, a pinhole leak would develop.

One of those QA oversights until enough people complained.

All good now though it appears.

Same with their control arms and c-hubs.

If they are referring to the New Era upper a-arms that will take a Maxx shock, then yes. I run that set-up with a set of four 1/8 scale big bore rear shocks from an MBX-5. Works like a champ. I imagine the SuperMaxx shocks will work just fine.
 
i am just wondering is it worth the money for the conversion. is there a big performance boost
 
Over the stock set up? Hell yes. Much better performance, and near zero chance of busting a shock. At least, I haven't broken one, yet. Then again, I have not broken a single shock since I decided to never run plastic bodied shocks on any of my rides.
 
I seem to have aquired some of the shocks with the pin wholes on the side.. I took Crazy Glue and applied it to the area and at the time they are still holding... You could clearly see it was where they came out of the mold.
