In a recent thread LST Shocks , I mentioned that I was running Proline Powerstroke shocks on my Savage with New Era arms and I mentioned that they were working great for me at the time. Well honestly for the cost of them at $150, I felt that they sucked on the Savage. The Bypass shocks were useless since on the rear shock towers if they were mounted, they would rub against the exhaust header. The springs that are included were not stiff enough to support the weight of the Savage and continue to keep it's ride height.
So luckily the LHS I got them from took them back and used them on someone else's truck.
So I still needed a shock and spring setup for my Savage. Since I was running the New Era arms with adjustable shock mounts, I had to go for a TMaxx length shock. At first I thought about using Integy TMaxx shocks but those were still pretty pricey and came with soft springs. So I decided to go with 4 Traxxas Big Bore Shocks using the Trinity TMaxx Spring Set
This set up was soooo much better for the Savage. I have been using this spring set on Integy's on my TMaxx for sometime now and decided to try it out on my Savage and I am glad I made the switch and returned the Proline Powerstrokes. Using the Big Bore shocks along with the Trinity Progressive Spring Set, the Savage keeps it's ride height without a sag ever and handles off road really sweet. The whole cost was under $75 just for the 4 shocks and springs together. That was a whole lot cheaper than the Proline Powerstrokes that I was testing out.
Shocks broken down and put together:
Ride height can go higher by using the different shock mounting holes on the New Era Arms
