does anyone know the best weight oil to use for all around performance dont want shocks to be to soft for jumps but dont want them to hard for turning and flipping easy. thanks for the input.
 
I THINK I have 50 in all of mine.. but I am switching over to ProLine Powerstrokes.
I believe I have 30 wt in them.. but do go on that.. they are different shocks.

I actually blew the caps off of a pair in the rear.. and instead of cleaning and re-oiling, I went ahead and installed the powerstrokes in the rear. I need to do the front 4 now.

I had them in my toolbox that I carry with me to run when it happened.. so that is why I did the half setup.. haha

I would suggest getting some stiffer springs as well. I forgot to add that.

I read on another forum... not that I go to it too often... haha that red/gold combination is the way to go. I liked it a lot.. but I wanted it to be a little stiffer so I changed to red/copper.

with a stiff spring and 50 wt oil we saw our stock shocks go to hell pretty quick. Dad changed his to the "team" version aluminum shocks. Hasn't had a problem since.
 
I wanted to get the shock bodies and caps.. but to get them all it cost so much!!

Since I have the second truck coming, I might try the factory team caps on that truck. I want to keep it as stock as possible for a while.

Maybe 30-40 wt. would be good.

I am thinking about setting up my original truck for racing.. but I don't race. I just wish I did. hahaha I am leaving the proline shocks in it.

I want to take the dremel to it (cut off weight) and I probably will.. but if I was racing I would really take the blade to the mud guards.
 
thanks for the info i have changed to 40 weight and handling is good but bottoms out bad on jumps i will have to try the red/gold combo and again thanks
 
You can try inserting short pieces of tubing on the shaft to help the bottoming out.
