Hey gang...

I just purchased alum diff covers but plan on using the stock 1.5 diff gears that came with the old Tmaxx I bought.

I was wondering how to figure out what weight diff fluid I should use and what is the difference between fluid and grease - do you use both or one?

Also, I need to replace the oil in the shocks, looking pretty bad. Again, how do you decide what weight shock oil to buy?

Thanks for your help!

personal prefference prevails on this question.....I run 3000 oil in the rear and 7000 in front.....4 shocks use 45-50 wt oil 8 shocks I use 40 in front 35 in rear w/ the soft integy springs

I never ran dif fluid in my T-Maxx. I tried it once and all it did was leak out on due time. If you feel the need to limit the diff action try some different automotive axle grease weights. I ended up using some way heavy red stuff. When I dipped my finger into the tub to get some it came out like string cheese.

oh yeah RTV seal the edges of th ebrass bushing in the diff cup and the ring gear bearing carrier and run a little heavy grease on the inside of it under the washers......throw an O ring (have to do research for the size) between the carrier bearings for the pinion gear too......get an OFNA diff shim kit so you can take out all the slop too......and use the RTV seal for the diff gasget too....good reminder ed, oops

aml,

Since I know what is going to be done to this truck....

I recommend 60wt oil.

I talked to J U about this.. and I told him 60 wt for that truck.
