I've decided its time to dump some more money into my Savage SS (.25). I'm looking at getting some Savage X arms/towers/bulks, etc... possibly FLM X/LCG TVPs. What I'm not sure about is whether going with LST, Ofna 9.5s, or Power Strokes would be ideal?

I've spotted a few posts on mounting kits (Kudos and Skip) LST shocks, which looks pretty good... but I haven't seen much on how those shocks perform (in comparison with buggy or Power Strokes)

I've also seen the new era upper arms used to mount the buggy shocks (and I believe power strokes?). but then you lose adjustment...Tryin to stay away from the big ally tower replacements, dont want to run too much solid aluminum as it gets heavy and tends to stay bent when you crash (not to mention the cost)... but then it seems I'm left with no alternative?

Well, I'd appreciate any input!

i can only speak of the lst shocks /kudos mounting kit, i love the combo. the savage soaks up rough terain a lot better than stockers (though I'm sure you could dial in the oil & springs on stockers to get similar) the downside of lst shocks i hear is if you do a lot of HUGE air you may be better with the stockers

I run 8 OFNA rear shocks with Skips composite shock towers. I can nail 8 feet of air all day long without any problems.

I had to modify the shocks a bit by drilling out the piston holes and I only run 30 weight oil. With them as they were, the truck weighs enough to only compress 4, but I wanted 8. So, I softened them up a bit. I bashed it all summer without a problem.

Ha - good to know! Thanks for your responses guys. So, they are both exceptionally well for bashing, and the buggy's excell in high/long distance jumps. How about track-wise? Big Air is nice, but its a different story when your tryin to race. Also, Olds- Got a shot of those towers? Last I read about your setup was you were usin New Era uppers... is that still part of the combo? Or stock arms/and upgraded towers?

Thanks guys!!
~ Mike

Stock arms, upgraded towers. The New Era arms were ok, but it wasn't as universal as running skips or nova type towers. You could only use specific shocks or it didn't work quite right. I proffered skips towers because they aren't aluminum.

Here's a shot of the rear with skips composite towers:

Ah those aren't too bad... What'd the towers run? And the shocks? @ Tower its $50 for 2.. Any where cheaper? I've found a pair on Ebay currently @ $15 shipped for the Ultra LX (I believe its teh same shock?)

Man I have been trying to find a set of skip's tower's. he stoped makeing part's befor I could a set. love his work. his old style or the last buggy style but to no advale... I've been running CEN shock but ya los some ride higth with stock tower's.

The towers were $50 I think (it's been awhile) and I bought the shocks at $25 a pair on ebay over a few months time. Took me awhile to get all 8, but it's tough as nails...

Yeah, those would be the sets made by Kudos. His LST mount kits are pretty nice, and reasonably priced. His towers (all be way better lookin than the Nova) are $150 for 2? hehe, too pricey for me.

Still hopin to hear back from people who've ran the LST shocks on track? I remember a while back seein a guy run an LST on track, and it seemed to do pretty nicely - but ah, that trucks setup!

Thanks for your input everybody!
