just picked up a used sav xl. truck runs and looks great. completely stock except upgraded steering servo. the only thing I want to do right now is adress the shocks. they seem to all be a little leaky and kind of gritty when actuated. they are all still filled. My question is this, would you rebuild, replace with stock or replace with upgrade.
any explanation regarding the shock differances, Ie, piggyback, big bore would be appreciated. thanks in advance!

tks 4 reply, figured that out quickly. really want to know whats up with the other options

Maybe I just had bad luck with plastic shocks but I bent two shafts on those, then I went to the aluminum and haven't bent one yet. :)

Well, after seeing how well it does with the LST shock conversion, it's hard for me to dissuade against that setup. But, I have yet to see a lower mount that doesn't bend after a while.

Steer clear of integy. HPI's 4 alloy big bores are nice, but I don't know if they can take the abuse 8 stockers can. Stock shocks are cheap to buy off ebay... all 8 for $22 shipped is hard to ignore for as well as they hold up. ;)

yeah, kinda saw that as a way to go, 8 shipped for 22 is hard to beat. was kinda hoping someone wiuld say something like, Dude, go with the piggybacks you'll be a superstar, you're truck will be indestructable! but, uh, back to reality I guess.

thanks to all for the help.
