It looks like I may be selling my Baja soon. Have any of you guys ever shipped one of these thing? I don't have the original box and packaging, but I want to make sure it's well protected for whoever ends up with it. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

First thing is to get a heavy duty box big enough. I would then use wadded up heavy brown paper as filler under and around the Baja. Styrofoam packaging works great as well. You could also use packing peanuts, but you will need a lot of it.

Another option would be to separate the chassis halves and you should be able to get it into a much smaller box. Brown paper or even news paper will work good for filler.

Do you guys ever wrap things in plastic then fill the box with the expanding foam? It should work its way around everything to cushion it, but I'm not sure what kind of pressure it might create.
We did it once with a pump at work and it worked great, but we also weren't worried about breaking anything.

Buy some bubble wrap from walmart and wrap everything really well then take it to UPS store to ship it. They will box it and fill with peanuts. If you take it into like 3 pieces shipping will be much cheaper because of the smaller box. The box size determines the price more than the weight does.

Important thing is a box of the proper size.
Pack around it as best you can. I use other small empty boxes to take up space.

Fact is that the box only needs to contain the Baja. We do things to our Baja that only in rare cases can be matched by the UPS driver. :D

LOL.. Yeah unless if falls off the truck at 60mph and slams into the side of an overpass it'll probably survive the trip.

Expanding foam is the ticket.

Place car it large garbage bag and remove air with vacuum, zip tie shut.
Place car in box and use expanding foam and fill half way. Alow to setup.
Top off the rest of the way, this prevents pressue from both directions. I highly doubt the foam could ever create enough pressure to damage something built as tought as a baja, but better safe then sorry sometimes.

This is how me and my family are always shipping stuff back and forth across the country.
