I've found the ballooning on my XRT now that I'm running the 800kv is just a bit excessive.

Curious for those with similar sized vehicles, what belteds do you run and your preferred rim?

I think some new shoes will be in my trucks future.

I tried the premounted, belted Trenchers. I initially didn't mind them on my Outkast, but they were so big and heavy I could "feel" the mass.

For stunt driving I went back to non belted tires; stock or a set of Badlands.

On my Xmaxx, it kinda killed the fun... it just felt weird and less crazy
Ha! That's funny, cuz the XRT with the HW 800kv and 30/30 gearing is absolutely crazy! I was hoping to tamper down the crazy just a little bit. It doesn't sound like belted tires have been well received by the folks in this thread though so it definitely gives me pause since it's a ~$200 investment.

I've got a newer x-maxx and I'm still on my first set of belted Sledgehammers. These are my first set of belted, but won't be my last. They are wearing faster than expected when I run on pavement, but I'm sure that's due to the weight of the x maxx. On dirt, gravel, grass...they RIP! I was concerned about losing some jumping control, but the x maxx is just an all-around great basher, so in the air they are good to go. No ballooning at all, so unless they break loose at the rim, hopefully I get a nice long life out of them. Time will tell. :D

I'm running traxxas factory belted sledgehammers on my Xmaxx with the 1100kv HW and 30/35 gears. Air control is reduced but still there. Hands down I like them better than all the other exploding tires. My favorite tires were the duratrax six-packs but I can't find them anymore.

You could try belting them yourself, just use a cheaper stock set of tires.
