Does anyone know where I can find some metric aluminum tubing? I've looked around locally and turned up empty,I've only found two places over seas as a last resort,..

Od- 6mm by 5mm- Id
Od -8mm by 6mm- Id
I only need a foot length of each but if I have to buy a yard I will

Yeah that's what I meant,lol,I seen those ones that you found, there are a lot that size, unfortunetely not the right size..

I have a nice set of 8mm hubs I'm gonna mod to work

Are you planning on installing an 8mm hub/hex on a 6mm stub axle with a bushing for a spacer like this?

Finding aluminum tubing to fit correctly is like finding a needle in a 100 hay stacks. With aluminum, brass or stainless as a bushing you need an exact fit or any slop will result in wear rather quickly (Just like the stock TRX 17mm hexes wear due to the threaded end of the stub axle being a little smaller diameter than the hex)
If you have calipers measure the stub axle and you will see it probably does not quite measure 6mm, its usually a little smaller diameter to fit the wheel bearings and finding a metal tube to cut for a snug bushing is almost impossible (at least I haven’t found any as of yet that fit correctly).
I use plastic as the bushing. It is more forgiving and the tolerances do not need to be as perfect. You can have the ID a little smaller than the stub axle diameter and stretch it over the axle and then press fit it into the hex. You can also make the cross pin hole in the plastic bushing a little smaller than the pin and press fit a non-threaded pin through the bushing for a snug fit without fear of the pin falling out when you remove the wheel.

You may be able to find the correct sized plastic tubing on line and not have to do anything but cut it to length and drill the cross pin.


I make my own from bushings from CPVC or ABS rod which you can find on line at a lot of different places for about $2.00 a foot + shipping.
I start with 3/8inch rod and cut a couple 2 or 3 inch section that will make a couple bushings ea. I drill the center with a 15/64 bit (very close to 6mm and usually a snug fit around the stub axle). To drill dead center you need a separate drill chuck that will sit square on the drill press table, chuck the bit in the separate chuck and the rod in the press. Let the bit find center and drill through. Trying to drill the rod on center with the bit in the press will cause you to pull your hair out, but is very easy using the press almost like a lathe.
Once the bushing is cut to length (leave a little long until finished) I press it on the stub axle and them mount the stub axle in the drill press and reduce the outer dimension to fit the hex ID with a lathe facing tool that mounts on the drill press deck. I then just locate the cross pin hole and drill through.
Once I assemble the stub/bushing and hex I trim the excess of the bushing with a sharp hobby knife.

Sounds a little more complicated than it really is and if you already have the other drill chuck, correct sized bit and a lathe tool you can turn out quite a few bushings in little time.
 
Guess I'm on a hunt for the right size nylon tubing as I do not have the proper tools to make them myself,"Unfortunetly",damn I wish I did though, it took me quite a while to make that revo pinion gear shim with my dremmel which was only the "id" I had to size
