I just got a new three speed for my savage. Got it in but it takes off, Hits second then revs to the moon ..No third gear!.. Not a total noob tried adjusting it and I can change second gear engagement but no matter what I do.....No third HELP!

Sorry, unless they've built a different trans, you have to open it up and advance the 3rd gear shift from the inside. Once you're in there you'll see that there's no access through that gear to the adjustment screw, and no way it could be reached from outside.
It's a really lame setup, but once it's right, it's great.
You'll need to back it off about 1/4 turn. At that point you know it will shift. If necessary, you'll need to open it one more time if it needs to be fine tuned from that point.

I thought the one you could access externally was the 3rd gear... And you have to adjust the 1st->second internally.

I'm probably wrong though... mine was in the original case and I bought the X case thinking you could adjust it externally due to the 2 or 3 holes in the side of it... you can't. Still unclear as to why they put more holes in the side of the case to insinuate that you can adjust it that way.

On a positive note, the new case does let you take the top off to take the parts out you need to adjust without taking the entire trans out. Although, I haven't needed to adjust it since I "best guessed" it when I had it apart swapping the case. Figures...

Took the plate of the tranny...And i see no screw for third gear..my two speed is totally different inside this is def. a three speed. anyone got any ideas

It's inside one of the gears. Look for an adjustment cog that looks the same as the one you can get at, except that there's no slot to put the hex through. You need to pull them apart.
