I wondered the same thing as newbie. I think he means like, you know when you have a liquid with different ingredients, it sits for awhile and you see different layers of ingredients. You have to shake it to then have them all combine again?

I think that's why he was asking...have I made any sense?
 
maybe you should of asked some other questions with it. Yes when i go to pour fuel in my car i shake it. lol i dont know my maybe it is just a thing when i have milk i also shake it.
 
You do not need to shake your fuel before you use it. You can if it makes you feel better, but it's not necessary at all.
 
I've had alot of fuel here in my house, some of it is a few years old (left overfrom flying which I don't do any more). I keep it in a cool dark place that has some humidity. None of it has chemicly seperated over the years (yes years) and most of that never gets touched, let alone shaken. I have used fuel that is stored this way, and is that old, with very good results (probably not as good as if it were a week old).

IMO, if nitro fuel does not seperate (break down into component layers) if stored correctly, then why shake it? If anything, shaking it will only make the methyl alcohol and nitro methane evaporate into the airspace in the jug and make the fuel less potent. Just my opinion, but if the guys in your area look down upon you for not shaking your fuel, by all means, bend to the will of peer pressure.

I don't shake my beer, so why should I shake my fuel?
 
I shake my fuel, I also shake my paint, dunno if they work the same, just think the oil kinda settles.

but I am not a chemical operator, so I am no expert.:cheers:
 
It's his snow thingy, and he can shake it as fast as he wants.
 
LOL.. that would be Derailed...... And No I don't shake my fuel, but hey whatever floats your boat....
 
I usuall give it a shake or two when I'm done just in case.

But no, I dont shake my fuel either.
 
I would think that pouring fuel from my 1 gal. container into the little fuel bottle shakes
it... but i never shake my fuel... should i?
 
i shake a little after drinking heavily the night before. acually i kind of shake mine a little before using it.:naughty:

Myth? Prolly so.

But still.... It FEELS so much better to shake it.. How many TIMES you shake is when you start getting into gray areas.

i heard somewhere (not sure where, i dont remember) that fuel wil absorb water iver time if it is not sealed tightly and that if you give it a shake every so often it keeps it in good (better) condition. just thought id throw in my 2 cents, I'm not sure how accurate this is though

it's very accurate. fuel will absorb moisture. keep it sealed.
