I keep losing the little set pin that hold the CVD's together, Is there anyway to reinforce that little pin, I thought about locktite, but I can't get the pin out to put locktight on it.

Its a duratrax so I know thats part of the problem.

I'm a little confused. You say keep losing them but in the same sentence you say you can't get them out. Are you talking about the dog-bone end or the CVD end ? Some CVD ends have a set screw that holds the pin in place. One trick I've seen is to put a slight notch or groove in the center of the pin, all the way around. This allows the set screw to firmly lock iteself in place, and the pin won't slide as easily. Post a pic if you can. That will help us folks with a solution.

i have been having many problems with my cvd's lately. i just keep snaping the little pin peices and i can't find anything that is strong enought to work for them. they were the xtm ones but i got a set of MIP's on the way. they should be here thursday or friday.

bryan

get the mip version and use blue locktite or if you're brave use the red locktite (you'll need a tourch to disassemble them).

To day I got so fed up with loosing bolts i red locktited almost everything on that POS, here are some pics with the pin I am taljking about, there really isn't a way to locktite them what should i do

I tried to make the pictures show up but i screwed up, anyway the bottom picture is a quick feild fix I used once using a collender pin, it last all of about 4 tank fulls before you have to do it again. Duratrax suck BTW, I can't wait till friday when the rc10gt arrives, nutill then i need something to play with

thats cotter pins btw

is that a piece of piano wire or steel? i would have thought that you would use a hex set scew in that spot. let me know.

mip is a better bet.

well on the first picture that is a small set pin or psh pin that is how the things come new out the bag, but they don't stay in there good! they fall out after a little norm driving, and once theier gone, well there gone, and you gotta pay 20 bucks foir another set of the entire assembly

i keep saying mip but when i went to thier site they don't seem to have them for duatrax. sorry

I don't think there are any diffrent parts for duratrash but duratrash parts!

There should have been a "grub" screw or set screw that has a hex head socket at one end. This set screw would have been screwed into the very end of the ball part of the CVD. That screw is supposed to hold that little pin in place.

Did these CVDs come assembled or did you have to assemble them?

They come assembled and there is no such screw, its ust forced into place and they expect it to stay

Hmmm...sounds like an interesting set up. What brand of CVD did you buy?

thats the duratrax ones. I don't knwo of any mroe that match the maxium st pro, its not super important cause i get the RC10gt in a day or two, but For a spare RC i don't want to be replacing these everytime I take it out

Let me look around and see what I can find. In the meantime, the shrink rap solution that Eddy mentioned is probably the best route to go. I'll see if I can dig up a set of pins (separate from the CVDs); they do sell many varieties separately.

Thanks i apprecite here are two pics of what happens when the car is WOT and those pins come out!

err how do you display pics on this thing

Well, after a rather long search, I found little of help. I need more specs on the CVDs than I could find. I may have to write to DuraTrax to get more info on the CVD. They do not look like they are anything special, but each and every RC has a slightly different requirement.

In the meantime, you might try some piano wire from the local hobby store. Fairly cheap, and you can cut your own pins from it. Then use the shrink wrap method described by Eddy to help keep them in place.

If you have pictures of the CVD while it is completely dismantled, I may be able to make other recommendations...but for now, I guess I'll have to wait on DuraTrax's response. Sorry.
