Hi everyone

I have been looking at some youtube vidios and they are all on about upgrading thet servos. What is the diffrance between a cheap servo and a expensive servo. My savage x comes with a standerd servos i need to know the diffrance so i can upgrade

Upgrading the servos is a good option on the savage. You can get metal geared servos fairly cheap now. The difference is they are alot faster, alot stronger so there is less chance of stripping them if you have a hard impact on the front wheels. I am using Hitec 645 MG's which are fairly cheap, about £50 for the pair. They have more torque than standard servo's.

Hi tec make some called MG995's. They are metal geared so are going to be stronger than standard. They are really cheap, about £4 each here in the UK. Not sure what that is in USD. I used these first off on my ofna buggy. What I noticed, with the standard steering servo it could not turn the wheels when it was on carpet. But with the 995's it had no problem. Alot more torque.

Those aren't hitec servos I don't think. Those are off brand cheapo servos. They get the job done, but they are noisy, twitchy, don't center well and overshoot the EPA. I have one in my jato for steering. Definitely gets the job done and is plenty strong, but isn't a servo I'd put in anything for throttle/brake usage.

I used to buy hitec 645MG's or futaba S3305's. Both decent servos, but IMHO, you need more for steering in a monster truck. I wouldn't run anything with less than 150oz of torque and any slower than .2 seconds for travel speed.

The higher cost servos are generally built better, tighter tolerances, higher quality electronics, which gives you better positioning and longer life. The really high dollar ones are all that and silly fast, strong or both.

These days, I buy the hitec 985MG. Pretty fast, strong, long lasting and water resistant (o-rings). I've been running 3 of these for a few years in various trucks and they still work fine. $70 at tower.

Look at the Savox SC-0125 servo $39.99, .18 speed and 222 oz-in with metal gears.They have good bang for the buck. I run the Savox SC-1258TG for steering in my NTC3, for $67.99 you get Titanium gears and .08 speed and 166 oz-in. all the specs are assuming you have a 6V pack.

The specs on those are really good for the price. However, savox doesn't make a single sealed servo. I sent them an email after seeing an ad in one of my magazines.
