okay, I have a servo in need of replacement, but instead of buying, I was wondering If I could pull one off of my dad's rig from probably 30+ years ago, and put it on my current model. would this cause problems, break things, fry things or all of the above?

No, it should work if the plug has the correct connector and is wired the same as the servo it is replacing.

it would work, but a 30+ year old servo is junk compared to todays servos. You can get a decent servo for about $15 shipped. what is the problem?
