So I was wondering what servos are you guys using? iiim looking for strong servo I just got the hump pack reedy 1600 6.0 volt. Thanx

I use a futaba s3305 on steering, it has 124 oz/inches of torque. For throttle/brake I use a hitec 635hb. I can't remember the torque, but it is plenty of power, very fast, and easy for my failsafe spring to push back if it loses signal. They are both around 30-35 bucks and have ball bearing outputs.

thanx for the reply do you know how much torq the stock 2055 has?

Pretty sure it has around 70-80. Not much.

The S3305 is ok, but you'd be better off spending more and getting a better servo. The JR 650M or JR sport 126MG are pretty good for the price. Both have the same specs, but the sport is a bit cheaper.

If you really want a decent servo for the $, get the hitec 985MG. Not enough to break the bank, but plenty of torque and speed for the maxx. 172oz @ 6V.

thanx again !!!

will that hitec 985 mg turn the wheels at a stand still?

Depending on tires, traction, servo saver, it might. It's almost 3 times stronger than what you had...

What servo saver are you running? The one that mounts to the servo or the one that is part of the steering bell crank?

You may also take this time to put bearings in your bellcrank posts. Pretty sure they come stock with bushings. Bearings move so much better and consistent.

That's a damn good question. I've already decided against anything expensive anyway. For 35 bucks I can replace my s3305's if they go bad. Besides, 124 oz is enough for me. I think about expensive sfuff when I get my 8ight-t 2.0 later this summer.

This has the saver , on the servo whitch I think blows!! Whats a really good 1,I just got this maxx sat off craigs list turning it into my new project would love all of your guys input thanks. a part # would be awsome! aftermarket steering system would definitley help is the traxxas 1 any good? Thanks again!!

oh yea sorry whats the bec?

Pro-line used to offer one that replaced the bell cranks with a 1/8 scale type, but traxxas has one in the e-maxx now that I believe will fit with a few extra bits. Actually, after a bit of looking on traxxas, they have it on their 3.3 maxx now!

Look at this and see what you don't have, this is from the Traxxas 3.3 maxx (4908) manual:

I'd replace the bearings/bushings with Fast Eddie's. Much cheaper route than getting traxxas bearings and they are decent bearings:

And as we all know, bearings work better/smoother than bushings any day of the week.

Make sure that little piece (lip faces bearing) doesn't get lost. It's tricky to get it in there but you'll be sorry if you don't. The one on my 4908 was missing when new, my tires flopped from side to side. I investigated and wound up bying the whole new setup. It works well even with big joes.

All that stuff will go right into your maxx no prob.
