servos or new engine

Homie do you have a starter box??? Depends really on what you are trying to accomplish with the servos and engine honestly. If the servos are for your Nitro RS4 I'd do the engine honestly cuz standard servos are usually good enough.

servos are going into the steering of my ofna buggy and my rs4 mini. Engine goes into my ofna buggy and yea I got a starter box.

You make a good point about the servos. I thought the same too, but after I been reading on this site, everyone seem to have all these NiCE high torque, high speed, digital servos. I want some too.

I pretty much dont "need" either of these right now, I just want them. And what ever I dont buy now, I will buy later.

Well I think you are looking at overkill for both of the servos for just steering servos. I'd go for the buggy engine and a lower cost servo. I only buy servos that are high speed and torque for an actual purpose not just to have them. A good high torque metal geared servo for a buggy can be had for like $40.00

I have one of those on both my K3 and Savage. The K3 has it on throttle, steering on the Savage. IMO it's kind of slow. Good torque, but slower than the Futaba 9303 that's steering the K. And I'm running a 5 cell hump on both.

I'm not really looking for torque. I think all these HIGH torque servos are over doing it. I am looking for high speed. If you look at the servos I want, they are rated at .08sec.

I missed that the first go round. High speed is nice. I also use Futaba 9401 servos that are damned fast.

I would stay away from the Hitec Digital Servos. Whenever I hear about someone's servo dieing on them, it seems to be a Hitec Digital. I run the Hitec 645 as steering in my buggy and will be running a Hitec 625 for throttle. I also have a 645 for steering in my pede and a 625 for steering in my XXX-T.

Also, digital servos take more power to run.

Since you are looking for speed, I would look at the Hitec 945, 107 oz and .08 sec.

I always thought digital was the way to go. From what I have been reading on this site, I have always read to go with the best you can afford and digital. You guys are mixing me up now. Good thing I didnt order these servos last night.

I know Sky is a big fan of the Hitec 5645MG servos. This is a digital servo.

I have always been happy with my 645MG's for steering duties.

My vote would be for the engine.

I'm not a fan of digitals. Another user who is aslo a local bash buddy on here had 2 die on him almost back to back.

ok, looks like 2 votes in for the engine and when I get servos, they wont be digital either.

I run a KO-PROPO 2143 very fast 8-sec in my throttle and a Jr 8550 in my steering lotsa torque for my K-2. I run a Jr 8450 in my t-maxx for the throttle and that is also very fast 8 or 9 sec. fast is good in the throttle for quick on power and dependable braking

I run the 645mg for steering and 625mg for throttle on my maxx. With the stock radio and a 2000mah homade 5 cell pack, it really slams my steering fast and the throttle. Actually, with the new engine, the throttle could stand to be a bit slower to calm down my horrible driving.

The digital servo's have more standing torque than a non-digital. The signal that gets sent to the motor of a dig servo gets sent at a higher frequency so it has less of a chance to move on you. This higher frequency gives you your higher standing torque and helps with the speed. Both of which drain the battery more than a non-digital.

Just food for thought.

since we're on this topic will a 945 hitec servo be ok for my ultra lx pro? i think the servo is metal geared and super torque, but i think it might be overkill but i might be picking it up pretty cheap used:whhooo:

is there any truth to digital servos not last as long or breaking more easily?

--NooP

I would have to guess it's like anything else. (cough cough OS cough 21 rg cough cough)...

Some get a bad part, some don't. It is known that the digital servo's eat up batteries. As for them breaking down quicker, I'll leave that up to people who own them.

since were talkin about torque and speed, what would be better for a savage steering servo since the tires are bigger and heavier and the stock one sucks. speed or torque?? i would thing torque but speed too.
