Servo question for tmaxx

I want to replace the stock servos on my tmaxx. What's the difference between digital and non digital servos? I'm thinking of going to Hitec 645 mg for the steering servo. Is the 645 digital?

The 645 is not digital, but it is a good choice for the steering servo. The 5645 is the digital version of the 645. And until you get to replace the throttle brake servo, you can use the stock steering servo, the 2055 will work fine for that application. Then when you got the extra cash throw a 625 in there for throttle and brake and you will be good to go.

From my understanding:
Digital compaired to non-digital are:
- more expensive
- stronger standing torque (good for holding the wheels where you want them)
- quicker response
- quicker transit time
- drain battery packs faster
- programable to do what you want (if you have the right equipment)

What would be good specs to look for when shopping for servo upgrades? As far as steering is involved. Maybe someone could post some specs for bashing and racing applications?

it's prefference and money.....
I look for these minimums
steering: 180oz/.15sec @6VDC
T/B: 120oz/.11sec @6VDC
some people like faster but I found that to be good for me.....If you cna..get the best servos you can afford....I'll chepo out on alot of stuff on my rigs except radio gear.....I blew a few Hitec servos before getting the stuff I have now and have yet to blow a servo out in about a year...I guess I'm due now huh???

Cirrus 704: 202.8 oz/in
Cirrus 702: 86.1 oz/in

Decent numbers, but I haven't heard much that was good about Cirrus stuff. Kind of like blue bird. Don't stay at home very well, kind of twitchy and burn out unexpectedly.

As a good inexpensive upgrade the Hitech 645 is a good steering servo,I use them in 1/10 scale off road trucks mostly.

IMO No need for a digital servo unless you are into serious racing,or rquire razor sharp precision for on road racing.

On all my on road cars its all Futaba digital servos.

I havent had good luck with blue bird servos longevity. Their customer support is good. I sent them a e-mail and they sent me a knew one. I keep it as a spare.I was told that blue bird makes the servos for cirrus. I dont know if this is true.
