I recently rebuilt my cen ct5's motor. I had to do this because i had left it sitting for so long. The engine is running great, but I'm having problems with the steering and throttle servos. The steering servo stays left or right after i turn and i have to then turn in the opposite direction to straighten the car out. Also, when i hit the throttle, the throttle stays open until i hit the brakes a little, or the brakes stay on until i hit the throttle again. Are my servos bad? and if they are is this repairable? or is the car's reciever acting up and i should get a new one?

Thanks for any help!!

There mat be a problem with the potentiometer idk how to spell it lol :hehe: but thats what i think

Check out the settings on the transmitter and make sure the linkages aren't getting over extended, causing a binding issue. It's weird that both the steering and the throttle are doing the same thing.

Pull servo arms off, they sound like they have stripped out.

Thanks for the replies.

Scrogg, pardon if this is a stupid question lol, but by stripped do you mean the arm no longer fits snug on the servo gear? cause if thats what you mean i checked and its fine.

Idk what a "potentiometer" is lol, so i guess ill go ahead and check the linkages and post back.

thanks again guys,

Yes, you are correct. You have some gremlins in there. good luck finding them!

A potentiometer is a variable resistor inside of the servo that tells the electronics in the servo the position of the servo arm.

All the linkages seem fine. If it is the potentiometer is there any fix or should i buy a new servo?

I can't help but think it may be a reciever problem though. Cause sometimes the servos will twitch when I'm not even thouching the remote, what do you guys think?

Thanks again for the replies! :)

Yeah i was putting off trying a new reciever because since I'm pretty new to RC i dont have any other recievers lying around, so i'd have to go out and buy one. Just bieng a cheapo. :hehe: I'll try a new one though.

potentiometer should be fairly easy to get to but donot touch the contact on the inside the oils on your skin can affect it but clean off the potentiometer with a cloth on the inside of it there will be metal tabs on the out side you lift up so you can get inside of it

You can replace the potentiometer, but it's a lot easier to just replace the servo.

The Cen servos probably aren't that great anyways. Might be a good idea to pick up both if funds allow. Look at high tech servos.

Go to radio shack and pick up another set of Radio crystals. Make sure your crystals are pushed in their slots firmly. A loose or broken crystal will cause all kinds of problems.
Amen for 2.4ghz!
