hi everyone, I have a savage le. But I hate the way the servo handles the load.

Any recommended servos for better speed/torque ? I bash and race sometimes.
Kinda have a budget of $150 us.

I'm sure u have already, but make sure u have upgraded to a hump pack. If u have'nt upgraded to one u will notice a big difference right away. The hump will put out more volts making all the servos stronger.Anyway for steering i use a Hitec 5945mg it has 180 in/oz torque at 6.0 v. That servo is pretty fast as well the price is about $80. More commonly used are hitec 645mgs they are fine for most guys, i just like more torque and speed than most. also some people will use JR 590 's again they are not to bad either these have about 80-85in/oz of torque. of course if ur interested there even stronger servos that put out way over 200 in/oz of torque. they are way more exspensive

JR makes a decent servo aswell. take a look at their z650mg. its metal geared so they should last longer. pull roughly about 140 in torque. its decent servo and priced under 50 bucks.

For bashing purposes the the JR 650 is better IMO. Not as fast as some of these high end servo's but it will get the job done. I have tried both the Hitec 645 and the JR 650. I like the way the 650 turns my savage.

i use a hitec HS-945MG for my steering great servo,6v .12 sec, torque 157.75 but cost around 70.00 dollars, and on my throttle I use a hitec Hs-5645Mg 6v .18sec, torque 168.03 but its farly expensive to.and a 1400 hump pack. The 645mg is a great servo and cheap. ofna 1400 hump pack, i got at my lhs for 21.00 dollars. also dynamite has a pit peak charger that hooks to you car battery and fully charges your hump,or radio battery in an hour. and its 20.00 dollars, and works very well.

If your willing to spend $150, look for a better one the the 645MG. You can find a decent servo with around 200oz of torque pretty easily for $100. 200oz will move the old savage around pretty good.

Just remember, that if you do end up running with a digital servo, that they eat receiver packs up pretty quick. I wouldn't even bother trying to run a digital with alkiline AA cells.

hmmm, what's the difference between the digital and anolog servos ?

Also, I am seriously considering the hump pack upgrade. Is it hard to put in place ?

(that radio box is a pain)

its not too hard to change the servo at all. 4 screws, take the servo horn off, put it on the new servo, put it back in, re-route the wire, done.

Digitals are more precise and some can be programmed with "endpoints" right into the servo so they dont strain the gears and drain the battery. For bashing, Metal gears are more important than digital servos in my opinion.

I've just changed out to Bluebird servos. Pretty cheap, high torque, and seem to be taking a beating so far. 144oz at .13sec @ 6v for US$21.50

Well, I just remember that I was running recharagable batteries in my rec. pack.
And those being 1.2 volts each, It was being way under powered.

Can i use the Hitec HS-5945MG servo with the standard radio box that came with my savage /.?

I loved my JR 650.I just bought a JR Z9000T to run in my MGT..320 oz/in at .15 sec.It should turn em with no problem.

Hi,

I have a 645MG that i use for my steering, and to be honest its nowhere near powerful to turn my savage. I have a hump pack and did the steering mod but it hasent helped enough. Steering is terrible. I wondered if there where anything else to try before having to fork out like £60 for a more powerfull servo that still may not cut it??

Help appreciated.

Cheers

Az

BTW I'm new to the forums.

Woo thats a pricey bit of kit. And i dont even know if it'll do the trick.
