Seriously considering CMB engine any feedback???

Has anybody ever used, or seen used a CMB engine?

I am specifically looking at this engine CMB EVO 3 Buggy

It's either that or I am gonna get the Kani Sirio.

spoke to someone about this engine a while back. he said that the mostly just make boat engines, but also some .21's made just for offroad. he owned one. said it was great - short stroke motor, good top end, but needed alot of rpm to keep in the power band. also said it had a really weird break in - said it was ready to run out of the box. just run it rich for the first tank. only bad thing he mentioned was that the included bosst bottle was crap and parts were had to get. mostly used in europe and australia.
 
Awesome feedback!!! Thank you. Same with Sirio it is hard and expensive to get parts, but worth it.
 
I currently race for MAC engines in Florida. I'm sure some of you have heard of them, I would recommend trying the MAC engine before a CMB. The engine is manufactured by CMB to Andy's specifications. They are absolute power houses. Give Michelle a call at 386-208-1036 for pricing and info tell her Tony sent you.

Hey greatmodels,
I am considering trying a MAC/CMB as my next buggy engine. How hard is it to get parts for the MAC? At $339 the MAC is not a bad deal. But I don't want to wait forever for parts once I do wear it out. Also, does the MAC use the new R type carb? Or do they still use the slide?

A guy I run with has a CMB Raptor in his Hybrid. It is a great engine......when it runs!! It is very finicky tuning.
 
Parts are very easy to get, Andy stock everything he sells, that's essential. Give them a call or go on they're site cmdracing.com

Mention that Tony sent you.

Tex: The best carb to date we have run is a round slide 8mm.
 
After running 1/8 hydros for years, I'm very familiar with Andy's work. I am looking for something to keep u[ with the RBs at my track. If Andy has worked the bugs of of his Mac Buggy 21 it may be the ticket. Right now I run Hyper 8port race with 1.1springs, light wt alum clutches shaved 2mm, 069 picco pipe, rex carb, etc.. A whole lot of bang for the buck. I'll tell you though, those RBs are a breed of there own.

haha. i just followed suit with my first RB - thing is 10 times better than anyone could have told me it was.

A sirio .27 is a torque motor and is not built to be a high speed demon, although with the right pipe and garing I am sure you could get a decent top speed out of it.
 
The "bugs" are all gone! Basically the only thing that was a major concern was carburation. The latest engines feature the 04 type "R" CMB carb and its insane! The 2004 race season should be interesting, with the engines running as good as they are and some drivers switching to MAC. A couple of magazines have MAC's under testing right know so you should see some reviews starting to get released. Good Stuff!
 
We run a "Run what you brung" kind of track, everyone is running to the RBs for there buggy. It's time to retire the OFNA. Ordering a MBX5 tomorrow for next season starting in a couple weeks, trying to figure out what to put in it. I want to be different...........Anyone running the Sirio 27?
 
I also want a Sirio .27 but for a MT, as it would seem with those specs that it would be too torque for racing a buggy, don't really know though.
 
holy poop those are $$$$$ - for that kinda money id prob try and shoot for the c5 - and for alittle more a rody c5 so you can warp to the next day lol...
 
The two Sirio's that are here local get blown away by Picco .26's.

I wouldn't put anything bigger than a .21 in a 1/8 buggy. If you buy any .21 worth a damn it will easily out run the bigger motors.
