Pretty good crawling today! The tires really make some lug noise now but seem to work pretty well. Unfortunately where I used to run last year is all under water so, I found a new spot but don’t really have a good baseline on the obstacles available. The area to me seems like snake country with the weather we are getting into, it’s hard to concentrate on technical stuff when you are watching your surroundings with twice the scrutiny. Keep that head on a swivel!
I need to ditch the foams and go with the 3d printed inserts. The YZZR stuff is good but I’ve designed my own. I just need the printer.

I was just oogling over this picture because of the cactus and noticed how much the front magnetic body mount pieces are all knackered. The double sided tape didn’t really work to begin with, so this time i used some glue. I will see how it turned out in the morning.
I love the color of the wheels with this green-ish color but I feel like adding some sort of bronze or gold would take it to the next level. If the beadlock screws were brass or something might look cool, or gold wheel nuts.

I have made one, the old spot is under water right now, and I don’t really love the new spot I found. It just doesn’t do it for me. The good obstacles are too spread out or something.
 
Excellent looking rig, those rims really pop. It's really a capable rig, too, in that video some really nice crawling. Thanks for sharing!:cheers:
 
Next to the water has the coolest lava flow rock ever. It really is neat to see that it was liquid flowing then cooled keeping its liquid looking form.

I love the HD, I’ve been looking at some LCG chassis’ for it too. The shocks are pretty good too but, I’ve been thinking of throwing some dravtechs on there or the traxxas big bores like I have on the Capra clone.
I have plenty of the big bore shocks however, I removed the circlip to grease all the orings and for the life of me can’t get the buggers back in. They bend so easily and there is no tool that installs a clip that small. I have 3 different tools and I modified the jaws on one just to fit these circlips. The 4 I have in use I said screw it, filled them with oil and just sent it. No leaks.

Really nice shocks if you don’t muck with the circlip

The magnetic body mounts are now glued on a lot better.
Swapped over to some Losi Mini-T type springs with Traxxas shock ends from the big bore shock parts I had laying around. You can use the element or traxxas spring cups. The Traxxas cups will allow you to use Orings for preload. The Dlux/Mini-T springs will not slide over the bottom shock collar, so it’s essentially a retainer. These are softer springs than the stock grey springs that came on the HD.
Why? Because I had them laying around and this is all about experimenting.
Changed shock fluid to 32.5 losi. Feels good on the bench.
Installed some gold wheel nuts for a subtle bling, but looking at it I think bronze would look better.

Yes I love it!
I won’t leave it like this but it is fun. The sendero just doesn’t need to be what this thing is right now! This esc and motor will be going in my injora rock buggy to make it more of a bouncer.
I would like a fusion system for the HD, however this Holmes motor is really good! I can’t dial in the esc due to my computer being down, but there’s still some good slow crawling and amazing drag brake.
