alright my savage x4.6 will run but i cannot hear it shift into second gear. I've ajusted the gear settings so it would shift sooner but i still can't tell if it is shifting into second. i am thinking its not because it doesn't go nearly as fast as it should. can anyone help me?? thanks

hi,
for the savage to go into gear, it needs to get to a high speed, as the clutch is done by centrifugal force, this means that once the car is going fast enough the clutch will engage itself and change the gear, so if your car is not going fast enough then simply your car wont change gear

What clutch/spur combo are you running?

Is it possible that you've adjusted the shift point to where it's shifting into 2nd almost as soon as it starts moving?

I've sometimes resorted to picking up my truck and gently ease onto the accelerator to feel when it shifts (or not) and adjust from there.

i am just running it stock the only thing I've ajusted is the hex key to make it shift sooner but i can't feel it shift so i will ajust it again to make it shift later

Is the engine up to temp?
Has it ever shifted into 2nd and now it's acting up?
The reason I ask is that there may be a mechanical reason (like a worn/beat up part) that is keeping it from shifting.
There's a lever that flips out and when it engages it hits hard.
I've seen this lever deformed to the point where it won't operate properly.

It can be a pain to chase a shift point.
Keep notes as to how much you've adjusted it in case you need to back-track.

Could also be your slipper is slipping and when it hits second gear, it slips making the shift very soft. With the taller gearing of second and a loose slipper, it won't pick up speed, but you will hear the engine rev to the 9's.
