ok so i found out today that my engine has a leak and now I'm curious on how to seal. it has a nut and a washer on it so do i put the sealant on first then washer and nut or what? and also what kinda sealant do i use for it? thanks

ummm----
When i seal a mil, i seal,,, (always use the copper high temp gasket maker)

1-the back plate

2- the carb.

Thats pretty much it, i have no idea what nut and washer your talking about.
Give me more info---

KBIG, are you talking about the bolt i have circled ??

BTW, I apologise about it but i had to "Save" the picture to edit it, then upload it to my photobucket.

yep thats the spot it bubbles like crazy whenever i did the test. nowhere else on the mill bubbled. could this be the cause of my idle screw to quit working plus poor idling in the rig itself?. and oh i dont mind

and i have also been having temp probs with the rig also could this be it? i had plenty of smoke coming out and even made had it rich enough to start taking out performance and it was still trying to hit 300 alot of times

it could be the cause. If it were me, i would seal it with some clear silicone sealant and see if that cures it. If it does, you know what it was.

Any air leak in any spot can cause erratic performance from a finicky engine such as the 2 strokes we run, it can also cause poor idling, high temps and no way will you be able to "Dial It In" and get it to keep a tune. You will forever be chasing it. Muchh as i did with my old engine.

I Honestly do not know, i have only ever used blue hylomar, clear silicone sealant, or a silicone based flexible gasket maker on my engines.

ok thanks alot man. say i gett the seal fixed and everything but my rig is still overheating what else coudl cause this prob

A great many things affect engine temperature, tuning for one if your running too lean on the HSN, the ambient temp on the day you run plays a part, your fuel can play a part aswell. Also if anything is "Dragging/binding" or "freespinning" in the drivetrain like that missing pin that you had, that causes overheating also as the engine has to work harder to make the vehicle move.

if there is alot of smoke coming from the exhaust but still running hot is this ok? or should i stop it and let it relax. I'm surprised my engine is still working cuz i pulled it aside before and it was running 318. i was like OH SH** and shut her off real quick and let it sit for a few hours lol
