Hello guys,

I was looking online and I found screw kits that are made from stainless steel for my cars and I was wondering if it is worth the purchase? They say they will never rust or strip when are the two killers for screws in my area.

So can anyone offer any insight into whether this is worth it or not?

Thanks,
Jmacca

Personally I would say to get them from Homedepot or a hardwear store. The rc screw kits tend to be more expensive than screws from the hardwear store. Just because they say that they will not rust doesn't mean anything. I bought some "stainless steel" screws from a store, turns out they were carbon steel (will rust) and that they rusted in place and the heads stripped very easily.

Alloy steel screws by Tony's Screws or Hexcrews are the way to go. They both sell individual screws or complete conversion kits.

Some SS screws tend to have strip the heads quite easily I have found. The smaller they are, the worse the problem is.

Stainless steel screws are worthless period. They strip, bend and break too easily.
Buy only black oxide hardware.

I just buy stock screw kits off Ebay for a few bucks. If it strips or looks like its going to in the trash it goes. I've spent maybe 20 bucks total and I probably have enough screws to build 3 Tmaxxs :D

I use the ss screws! No problem w/ them breaking. Bent a few. 100 for $7 ebay!! They dont have screws that small @ lowes or home depot. maybe true value?
