I figured I'd start my own build thread for my 801XT kit.

I just received mine yesterday, so here are a few unboxing pics. I'm not going to have time to start building it this week but I'm still waiting on a few things anyway. Before I even got the kit, I had already ordered a set of Tony's screws as well as both front and rear TBR bumpers. Being as I'm not racing it, I plan on picking up a set of Badlands. I still haven't decided on the power plant yet, but I'll probably grab an LRP .32 to toss in my XXL and then take the Losi .28 and toss in here. I can never really get myself to spend any "real" money when it comes to this hobby, so it'll probably stay a roller for a while lol.

I finally got around to messing with this thing, I did a "dry build" tonight and will be doing a tear down and boil the plastics before the real build.

I kinda stopped taking pics. Between my kids, the cat we're watching, and stopping to take pics, I would've been working on it for a week.

Those TBR bumpers should offer some good protection out on the track.

Where did you find one? i have been looking for a while for one, i waited too long to pull the trigger on hem when they were on clearance.

I bought mine back then, I just haven't messed with it until now. They still have a couple on Ebay, some guys are trying to get $500ish for them, but they did have a couple for $150-200.

Looks like they still have the buggy kits for $149.

Nice lookin truggy kit, it aught to run good with the .28 in it.
That's the buggy, my buddy and I were thinking about getting a couple. We decided not to though, I have a feeling replacement parts are going to be damn near impossible to find pretty soon (both versions).

These are the colors I plan on using, still not sure on a design though. It'll be my first paint job, so I'm leaning towards something simple, probably just the gunmetal with a blue stripe or two.

I like the gun metal color, really makes the blue pop.

After looking on the Tamiya page it looks like almost half the models there are discontinued.
Now might be the time to stock up on parts for it, there's nothing worse then having an great kit but not being able to get spares for it.

Finally! Couldn't wait to see your pics. I got mine going and I put an HPI 4.6 in it because it was $50. Couldn't go wrong. Needs piston and sleeve though, no biggie
