I just bought a brand new Savage XL. This is my second Savage and I am great at tuning. When I took it to the parking lot to break it in, it seemed fine. I was running it first with one tank with just the engine running, second slow driving and third slow driving. I was wondering why, though, at break-in when the throttle was almost at max, the car was still driving slow. My throttle trim seemed fine, but at the forth tank(when I was able to run it at it's highest speed), I set the carburetor to the optimal setting and even then when I richened the mixture at one point I had the radio at max throttle and the car barely moved. I did everything according to the manual and my own knowledge. If it is possible, could someone post a picture showing what they have their Savage XL set at(carburetor setting) or what I can do to run it at it's max performance. I should be pulling 45 m.p.h. with this. Thank you.

Does it rev but not drive or does it bog down?

It sortof bogs. I am confused because I kept it at the factory setting and even then, it still was having a problem. Also, I had to keep the throttle setting at about half just to keep the engine from shutting down.

Factory settings is usually set rich, try leaning the HSN abit, maybe 1/8 of a turn. And your idle screw is prob not set good. But wait on anwser of other R/C'er just to be on the safe side.

Just lean out the HSN quarter of a turn and do a SHORT run, preferably in a circle around you and see if you notice any change. Remember motor must be at running temp and whenever you make changes burn off all the fuel in the crankcase before making further changes.
I just pick them up by the tail and give it some good revs, thats usually enough. I think it is wayyyy rich. But only touch the LSN for now, if it wont idle for say... a minute.
Tune the LSN properly when you've got the rest sorted...
