I got a xl, broke it in adjusted high speed needle runs aboat 230 taking with losi temp driver. It rips comparied to my dads 2.5 t-maxx or my buddies 3.3 it just doent seem to hit like the ones I've seen clips of. Ex. it wont wheelie of stand still. Oh yeah I'm using 20% nitro 16% lube byron fuel and I'm on about my 7th tank.

be patient, that engine isnt even broke in good. it will come around if you take care of it.

Its hard to get it to get it tuned just right too but ya thats a big engine it takes time to get it broke in. What break in method di you use?

Probably fixing the gearing will help. Lower the teeth number on the CB and higher the spur gear teeth number. This gives more torque.

I used the hpi let idle on stand with wheels tuning for a tank the drove it at 1/2 throttle for two tanks

7 tanks in is pretty good. I mean I hit the throttle on mine on about the 4th tank just pissing around and it would lift..mind you I have a regular savage with the 5.9 engine. Everyone is right though, they do need a good breakin. I was starting to giver with mine after about 5 or 6 tanks, but constantly re-tuning it as I went through more tanks. It was about tank 12 that I finally set all my needles and had it running fantastic! Idling, low, mid, and high end speeds were unreal and I couldn't keep the wheels down. Of course, again, I'm running the regular savage so it is quite a bit smaller. But what a wicked machine!
