Savage XL...maybe this is the one for me?

That is not a Savage XL.

yeh how much you guys think its worth then? he dont mention it coming with a roto start or batteries.. so dunno if it's RTR.

think its almost $800 cuz theres 2 pounds to every 1 dollor.. but he has 'best offer' so i was gonna offer alot lower then that.. its pull start but he says he can convert to roto before the sale...

id offer the guy $500, its a nice truck but the best part on it are the alum arms, which only add about $100 to the original truck

IMO, the WORST part about it are the aluminum arms.

Aluminum arms are for bling only and are useless for real world bashing. Once you bend an aluminum arm, you might as well throw it away. Plastic arms offer some give which is vital to prevent breakage.

If you buy it, take the aluminum arms off, sell them and get yourself some stockers or RPM arms.

thank you Robmob ... i loved alloy but after what you said now and some other comments i've read, i've learned that RPM is the way to go...

Grrlracer, with what you're going to spend on that one, you could buy a new Savage X SS or Savage XL and put RPM arms on it. Then you can upgrade a lil at the time with parts that YOU want to put on it. Then, you don't have to worry about what parts are good or bad and what eneds to be replaced, because it's new.

A used RC should not cost more than a brand new one no matter what has been put on it.

I agree with Charlie, you are spending a lot of time looking at used rigs in eBay. Most cost more than a brand new one. Maybe you should consider buying a brand new one that you can call your own. At least you won't be buying someones hidden problems.

I don't know your skill level, but generally used rigs should be reserved for those who are proficient in diagnosing and fixing any problems that you may inherit. Just my:2cents:

yeap and it would be a great learning experience for you and your husband when it comes to RC's. My Sagage build took me from about a skill level three to a skill level nine in a few days, and it was by far one of the best decisions I ever made.

my skill level is ZERO..i have been considering to just stick to electric (although i now have one nitro) ...
i've been reading about tuning engines etc and it's something that is not for me really... i'm not into getting my hands dirty ...i just love to drive these and feel the excitment of racing... i wanted to go for used trucks cuz i just wanted to get out there and bash and not have to wait weeks running in an engine...also i'm not bothered about spending the time to learn how to run an engine in then be worried if i'm doing it right..esp. considering if i get it wrong i potentaly wreck my truck or atleast have one that won't run well...then after running it in ,,there's the tuning to be done, which i already said it's not for me ... on this ebay auction i think i was gonna offer him no more then 250 pounds anyway which is just under 500 bux ..i thought since he said it's an xl,it was worth it as they have just come out..

i really just wanted a good savage or revo..and you guys are right..the only way of knowing that i'm gonna get a good one is if i buy new... but buying new also means spending way over what i'm willing to spend....so I'm giving it alot of thought maybe i will just go electric and brushless

His auction description is a bit misleading, but nowhere does he actually say it is an XL.

If you don't want the hassle of nitro, you should consider either the latest Traxxas EMaxx or the new ERevo when it is released. Both are brushless ready.

yeap both of those electrics that Rob mentioned are REALLY nice. I think the E-Revo is going to be one of the winter projects for me. The E-Maxx is also a great idea, and the new ones are waterproof. I have an E-Maxx that I was considering selling just because I haven't used it since I bought it, and I was going to build it for my girlfriend but she's getting a brushless slash instead.

His title says:
savage 5.9 xl, lst shocks one of a kind very fast L@@K

anyway i was thinking of getting this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250257463830&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:VRI

but then i would need a lipo battery wouldn't i?

Yes, but the only item XL on it is the engine as stated in his description. As a general rule of thumb, ignore what is written on auction titles. It is what is actually listed in the description that counts.

I have never heard of the RC in the auction link.

Are parts readily available for it?
Have you done a Google search on it to see if there is any information on it?

Personally, I would not waste my $$ on it since it looks like something you buy at a toy store.

Stay away from that last truck that you posted. As a rule of thumb, the off-brand stuff is way more expensive to buy because of the poor quality and the lack of parts and support. It's cheaper to buy at first, but usually you can only buy the parts from that company that makes them and if you can buy them at all it's expensive and a real pain. The trucks just don't hold up like the better brands, and you end up really dissapointed or spending more money to replace it in a few months because you keep having to buy parts that cost more than the truck.

After reading ur comments i'm not going for it ..
i value what you guys advise me

i think i'm gonna go brushless!!
