hello all,, just wondering if the picco .28 will fit on savage xl ?/ it looks like carb on the .28 is on the wrong side,, can you flip it around ?/ I've been researching and seems like the picco .28 would be a good engine for the xl,, but just wanted to get some advice,,as i do not have much experience with nitro engines ,,,and witch ones are better,, thanks for any advice,,

The picco 28 is a good engine for any MT. The carb does rotate. Plenty of torque and RPM's to get a big truck moving.

I have a new one in a drawer that may find it's way into something next spring... contemplating dropping the LRP28 in my savage into my revo (way overkill) and putting the picco in the savage.

thanks for the info olds,, i was looking at the lrp zr .30 but everyone says the picco is a better engine so ill be putting one on in the spring,, its got to be better than the 5.9 ,, what pipe do you run with the picco .28 ?? i have the cen 7.7 pipe on the 5.9 would that be good on the picco ? thanks again,,

Will probably breath too much. I run a Losi HT pipe with mine and it's a good match for the LRP. Not sure what the picco will breath best with.

The LRP30 is a stump puller for sure. I'd be hesitant about getting that just due to the strain it puts on the center axles that are already a weak point in a savage. It probably wouldn't rev like a picco or the LRP28, but the torque is pretty high. I've seen enough LST2 videos with the LRP30 in it to know the difference between it and the LRP28. Doesn't have the legs of the 28, but definitely out torques it on the low end.

i heard the picco is hard to set up and tune,, ?? and lrp are more user friendly,, ? is this true ??

Can't say for sure. I've only run two LRP's so far and the picco is still sitting in it's box waiting for one of the LRP's to die... or for me to get another truck.

You may have been hearing this because the picco's metal carbs have composite inserts that can leak. Seems that a proper seal job is all it takes to keep em dialed.

thanks for all the info,,, ill be getting the picco, seems like the best for the money,,seen a lot of vids looks like a powerhouse engine,, everyone says the ofna 086 pipe is a good match ? thanks again,,

Ofna or Dynamite 086 work very well with the picco with either a medium or short header.

Hi Guys... I'm from Brasil... I bought a Picco .28 ofna part 51232 and ofna 086 Pipe... I'm looked for various forums to get an opinion and all of then said that's a great setup... Ok installed then on my Savage XL with original gears...
I didn't see anything in tha engine. The 3 speed transmission works fine but the shift isn't that thing like the 5.9... I will try to tune it better but my first opinion is it... I didn't like this Picco .28
