Compatibility!
Careful attention has been paid to maintain the tradition of Savage aftermarket support. Most of the new Savage X features are compatible with the long list of Savage aftermarket parts already available, and older Savage trucks can be upgraded to most of the exciting new parts found on the Savage X.

Savage X parts that will fit on past Savage trucks:
Transmission Case (easier to remove)
Differential Housings* (front and rear)(easier to remove)
Shock Towers (additional shock locations)
Suspension Arms (lighter)
Radio Box (easier access)
Slipper Clutch (dual pads plus rubber dampening)
Savage X Chassis Plates* (lowered CG)
F4.1 Engine

* May require a few extra parts for conversion

Parts carried over from past Savage trucks:
Internal Differentials
Internal Transmission
Dogbones
Driveshafts
Brake
Axles
Exhaust
Uprights
C Hubs
Body Posts
Body Position
Engine Mount & Plate
Servo Saver
Shocks and Springs

Savage parts that are not compatible:

* Alloy chassis roll bar can not be used with the Savage X side Plates
* Spur Gears by themselves are not compatible. (Complete Spur Gear with Sipper Clutch can be used with Savage X and Original Savage)
* Savage Wheels by themselves, for both Savage X and Original Savage Wheels are not compatible. (They can be used as long as the correct Hex Hub and Wheel Nuts are used. Savage X Wheels require 17mm hex hubs and wheel nut. Current savage wheels can be used with the Savage X as long as the current 14mm Hex hub and wheel nut is used.) (The Savage X RTR kit comes with 14mm Hex hubs and wheel nut in the spare parts bag.)
* Polycarbonate Receiver Cover does not fir the Savage X radio box

I didn't realize this thread was for a new style of savage... I thought it was like savage x-games or something, so I didn't bother...

Looks like a good rig. I like the diff setup. Not so sure about the head/roll bar thing. If I was buying my first savage, it would be where I'd start though! Basically a savage with all the "savage" kinks already worked out!

Hmmm thinkin of selling my new RS4...:) I want one bad.

$450 isn't bad considering a Revo is $475 on tower.

Dammit I just bought my 4.6 kit a month ago and they come out with this...

same, only i bought my Savage 21 and a few months later the 25 SS and 25 RTR came out. now i wish i wated to get this beast....

i always wait at least 6 months befor i buy anything, lets you figure out what problems from the factory and gets them worked out and usually the price dropps significantly. like the SS kit was about 449 when it came out and now its down to 403 or something. Id wait for the prices to drop.

skip, lol. looks like porschedudes rollcage he sells on savage-central. LOL. looks like a neat truck tho.

Looks like HPI is really listening to their customers.
Lower CG. Bigger wheel hexes. Battery box. Easier to work on. Still trying to keep it to where the upgrades work on it.
Who was it that asked why we love our Savages so much?

Figure I'm stuck with the .25 RTR for a while. (wish I could find a smilie with tears)

I wonder why they switched back to a single "disk" brake, instead of the oh great double "disk" brakes?

All in all it’s not bad; I am going to have to get some of the compatible parts for my 4.6 ss kit I got a couple of months ago. i just hate the feeling i get when a new version comes out when you just got one not too long ago.

yup, i just got my savage 25 in the late summer and ever since then they got the atv body thing out and the savage x...

I think they went back to the single disk becuase this is the RTR model. I assume in a few months the Savage X will come in a kit form, probably with the 4.6HO and that will have more hop ups and stuff. If not, they may just keep the 4.6 kit as the high performance savage. Either way, I think its because this is basically the next 25 RTR, I dobut the Savage 25 will be around too much longer.

I am really wanting one of these Savage X's lol
