i just got done breaking my new x ss in today and tuning it in and this thing is way faster than i anticipated. in order to do wheelies would i need to mess with the tranny or just keep tuning?

Give it time if you just go through the break in period. It may take some time for the engin to really wake up.

P.S. Why is everyone so freakin wheelie crazy. I dont get it, it looks cool right up untill A) It flips and you have to walk out and flip it over, B) If your like me loose controll and hit a tree.

i just wanna show my friend up. i really dont care for wheelies that much. just wanna do a couple and stomp my friends truck.

What kind of truck is it? If its a small block like a revo, you already got him beat.

Bryson

he's got a warhead evo.

You should be able to smoke him. I dont have a savage but know alot of people with them and have worked on them before. I think you should be able to take him if not I'm pretty shure theres another spur gear in the box try that out. Just a thought.

I've seen his run and after watching what my savage was doing today when i got it running right. i think I'm going to put him to shame.

Then dont worry about it just go out and smoke him plain and simple. LOL

o i will. i wish my firestorm was as easy to work on as my savage. it took my 10 mins to utne my savage. I've had my firestorm for a month and still dont have it tuned. shoulda bought a savage first

Your savage already has him beat in durability alone. If the motor in the XSS is anything like the one that comes stock in the X, it's a powerful little engine. You can safely gear it 17/49, still get all the wheelies you want, and have amazing top end.

However, if you're still wanting more power, you might want to have a look at the 3 speed. It adds 10% more top and 10% more bottom end. I have it in my Savage .25, and it's awesome.

i take it all the option parts for the savage x will fit the x ss right? since essentially it is the same truck.

Umm the X SS has all the options except the Wheelie bar. The diffs are actually the best upgrade IMO. They are like Kyosho diffs. Shimmed to perfection and are worth all the money. Anything else that you may want to do is to get a RX pack and a better tuned pipe. I say get used to your truck and then try see how your skills are. Driving is key when trying to beat someone.

It would beat a Revo 2.5 but don't get too cocky with a 3.3 are it will hurt your feelings LOL

3nigma, Your SS came with the 4.6 geared 17/47 and should pull wheelies very very easy, just take your time tuning and it will come. As Jon said it has most of the bells and whistles so don't worry to much about hop ups until you get the hang of what you already have. Maybe a wheelie bar :) but don't get suckered into the aluminum ones the HPI one is cheaper and will take a beating and ask for more.

IMO you bought a great truck...Enjoy.

BTW I still like wheelies, It's just a power thing LOL

i love my new savage. i wish i woulda bought this before i bought my firestorm. cuz then id b 300 bucks richer. my ss is faster than my firestorm and wieghs twice as much altho is always got like twice the hp too. the savage is like the greatest truck ever imo

i ordered the kit from tower hobbies and they sent me tower brand servos and a futaba 3pm-fm radio. i can't adjust the trim on the steering or the throttle. do i need to get digital servos or something?

on my "savage x" when i was doing wheelies the clutch ripped my spur gear and only had it for four days!!! If you won't to do wheelies just keep on tuning it.

its actually running perfect right now. this thing is a beast in a straight line. turnig doesn't work out so good, but I'm workin on that

Good to hear man. I want to see a savage x ss run in person.

Bryson

there were 1/8 and 1/10 scale buggies that couldnt outrun this thing in a straight line. seriously its sickening how fast it gets going. there also was a tmaxx 3.3, associated mgt, and my friends warhead evo. all of which couldnt beat me in a straight line, but since I'm so top heavy had to go slow around the corners so yeah. I'm taking care of that real soon tho. I'm thinkin bout ordering the suspension conversion set.

so wed. ill be moddin my savage with the hpi suspension conv. set, putting ball bearings in the bellcrank, lunsford titanium tie rods, and 17mm hex hub conv. shortly after that ill b converting to lst2 shocks all around. ill post some pics when I'm done.

I can't see that happening with a 1/8th scale buggy.
