hi,
i have a serious problem with my savage x spur gear. i have stripped at least 10 spurs. I have checked the following
1. Gear mesh-- which was proper
2. right combination of teeth.
3. slipper plate etc.
4. 4 bolts which hold the engine on the plate
5. i have even changed the engine mount.
This is really fustrating. Can any please help.

Does your spur gear have a slight wobble to it when you spin it? Some just don't spin true.
Anyways you have covered everything except for how tightly you mesh it and the actual engine clutch.
First, set the mesh as tight as possible but still being able to spin freely. Don't worry if it is a bit tight in one spot, the spur will wear in without stripping.
The other issue you could have is your clutch shoes could be slipping a lot causing the CB to overheat and melt the teeth off the spur.
Pull the engine, clean all the clutch components and reinstall them. Make sure the wheels of the truck do not move at idle. If they do, they are steadily building up heat.
A good aluminum clutch shoe with 1.0 springs will stop this problem altogether.

Your are right . there is a lot of Wobble to it. What could be the problem.
i will also change the bearings and check the clutch.

Some of the hubs for the spur assembly are not true. Mine wobbles quite a bit but it does not strip out. I thought this problem was BS for a long time. I have ran Savages for over 6 years now. Only my current one has the wobble issue but setting the mesh tighter than usual works out just fine. It's also easy to not center the slipper pad perfectly and the slipper plate can and will warp if overheated.
